Looks like some crafting changes have been done here from what is on live.

I planned on going butchering, but if I remember its not possible to have both butcher + magic salvaging on my main (DoK)?

I have also read that farming champs yields armor tali components while butchering yields armor potion components along with str potion components which i am interested in.

Any advice?

Have you checked the wiki? Questions are covered there. Yes, you can't have salvaging and butchering together. Butchering and cultivating = apothecary, salvaging and scavenging = talisman making

I worded my main question poorly, is it adviseable to have salvage on your main toon to break down non tradeable loot? I am not familiar yet with how much gear is fed through t4 bags that can be salvaged, id assume a lot of this is worth quite a bit for purple talis?

My main had butchering, which I converted over to salvaging due to non-tradeable loot and higher end talisman component needs (e.g. WS). However, I kept apothecary on him so I can make potions as needed (since my main is my biggest user). ....so I xfer mats quite often...

I assume for higher tier armor talismans this helps?

Scavaging for armor talismans. Salvaging for most others.

Ah yes, it's well worth it to have salvaging on a main or toon you play a lot of.. my SW is my main and gets lots of loot that goes straight to purple fragments.

Ah yes, it's well worth it to have salvaging on a main or toon you play a lot of.. my SW is my main and gets lots of loot that goes straight to purple fragments.

My DoK will be my main and really only level 40 toon for a long time due to time constraints.

I was thinking scavenging, but I wont ever go out and just farm pve for hours on end every week for drops, maybe an half hour or hour here and there to try and get frags. 99% of my time will be spent in pvp orvr/sc once i get talismans for armor really.

But I have no idea what scav drop rates are like and dok can farm champs like a champ, so im left at a crossroads there

I think that if you want to primarily focus on pvp with one character, you should do salvaging. That will allow you to salvage drops from rvr, scenarios, and influence rewards.

You get lvl 200 essence by salvaging any gear from all RvR-Bags. I don´t know if you can get lvl 200 essence any other way.

Cultivating is the most time consuming gathering skill. So it is also a viable option as gathering skill for you main.

Butchering and Scavenging you do by pve-farming, so its better to have this on an Alt. You could learn these skills on a toon that want to do a lot of gunbad-runs. Only 40+ champs in this instance, so a lot of valuable loots through butchering/scavenging.
