Are there any development discussions in progress in relation to squig herders and burst assistance; PrDPS needing to equip BAL/WS/Crit%, the loss of Unshakeable Focus, and the rising of armor values+toughness (and newly coupled with regeneration builds)?

Saw some maras with Dominator and flesh render jewels for soloing.
Outside of that I'm not aware of any.

it works as far as I know. clickbait
but it is considered underperforming generally for the ROI in terms of granted stat per renown point. (140 regen / 45 renown points)
the second option together with fleshrender jewels from KV lair, class specific tactics and abilities, the expensive SC weapons grant regen while you can invest your renown in fs,crit,ini,parry,dd, etc. .
however it's a 1v1 mebruhthing.

I think OP acknowledged that.
As far as I can tell, there is a squig revamp planned when the team gets client control.

The revamp is only for melee mastery.
Some added utility, few AE buffs, etc... nothing for burst damage.
...and no one really knows when that is coming.
