So im in the first screen, i can go into the settings and everything but i cant create a character

It got fixed after i restarted my PC

I have this problem on my win 7 desktop but my win 8 laptop had no issues with this oddly.
restarting didn't fix it for me either.

Does the RoR launcher initiate the game?
Does the game establish connection to the server?
With some more information, I or someone else can help assist.

Thanks for the response 
When i use the launcher, i can only choose between, cinematic / credits / settings / quit but there is no play button or something. (see screenshot below)
I do use the ''je fawk's Mini Ror Launcher v 1.1'' because the other launcher contains a trojan.
but i think this might not be the problem?

Well i have same problem when i use avg. i change avg shield to interactive and its works, byt i got many viruses. so i decided change antivirus and now i use avast and no problems
