How should a new player item progress?

When I subbed it was during the days of the event that allowed you to power level past t1 with that potion thing

So farming through t1 is confusing for me especially in the alpha stage where influence rewards don't exist, and quests are bugged and don't give weapon rewards

When I played trial decimated was the best gear and you transitioned. From the ch 1-2 quest stuff to the free rvr gear to decimator

Here I know gale and storm coursers are the best but I don't know how to get there

I've partied with farmers to get xp to 10 but I still have the low lvl 6 dps 31 armor starting gear

My question is should I save up for decimator then work on gale/ storm gear or should I just straight for the gale/storm stuff

farm some mobs. save your silvers. buy gale runner's stuff off the auction house. Most of the GR stuff is like 20-50 silvers each. But while you're doin that, you can join some scenarios and get the militia gear. The "of vengeance" gear is actually not that bad if you have nothing else.

Never buy decimnators, there is massive supply of em due to dupe bug with medalions. Send me your nick and i could fetch you some. Its good to farm some at start, chose some spot from list that is on forum. Get few gold coins, sell gales you drop and just buy needed staff from ah. Bigger cash and top-shelf items come with more dedicated farming like lair runs and good trading skills :>

I wouldn't be so categorical about buying decimator. Who cares if medalions were duped, when the only choice you have is to buy it, or wear crap? Unless you have a friend who can "fetch you some", of course :)

stick with your gear from basic starter quests, upgrade to militia at 4/5, buy your basic +8 tough jewels at 6, then when at 8ish renown and lvl 7-9 start upgrading to vengenace. you can buy vengeance and militia at nordland wc

most powerful gear setup atm seems to be:

chest & boots - decimator - you can farm mobs in RvR lakes to get recruit medallions (extremely low drop rate, amy take a while) or buy medallions from other players. you need 13 and can buy the pieces at your nordland wc. alternatively check the AH, depending on your class they could be a few g or extremely rare and expensive

helmet - bandit queen - drops from the dwarf (?) lair, i don't pve much. prices range from 2 - 5g for most classes, much higher for a a few others

belt & gloves - gale runner - drops from high lvl mobs. souls/boketoofs for destro, snotwood/boars for order are main farm spots. for some classes extremely rare and expensive, but for majoity prices are 1g or lower

weapon - gale runner/lady - drops from same mobs as above. prices range wildly for classes. good selection too, i believe there are 3 different gale staffs for shaman and 3 different choppas for BO. each have different stats and much different prices

i think lady weps drop from the elf lair boss. for most classes not worth it but i hear some are good

cloak - exremely rare and expensive. i believe storm courses is 7/7 and drops from vultures. gale runner is 6/6 and drops from same mobs that have gale runner. either way the stats aren't amazing so don't worry about it, get it last if ever

jewelery - gale runner - has +10 to stat. drops from gale runner mobs. some cost a few g, others (like stength), can be upwards of 10

there's a thread in general section that lists drop zones in much more detail

i know very very little about storm courser gear so above might not be 100% accurate

Also, gear avaible at AH is different for destr and order.
Destruction has much less gear and at higher prices, prob because of smaller population.
