Strength & Melee power

What is their difference?
I can read the same dps for the same amount of str or melee power
Which one better?

Fairly sure that on RoR, str 1: 1.5 melee power, i.e. stack str till softcap, and then use mp coz str doesn't offer as much after a certain point (when its orange).
Mp doesn't offer inherent bonuses str does (against defenses, etc)

Melee power is equivalent to strength for pure damage, but does not have the other effects of strength. It's a way to circumvent the strength cap (1080?).

Peter 1wpn dps is 5 str.

5 str = 5 mp = 1 weapon dps
why is it 1=1.5???? i can check the weapon dps is the same!
