Cant interact at character select - authentication timeout

When launching the game through the launcher I get to character select with the empty grey box on the side. After a little bit the game gets an error authentication failed popup. I realize this is a common issue on the FAQ's posted but I have attempted all the workarounds ive seen on the forums including:

reinstalling the entire game, redownloading launcher, running as administrator, unchecking read-only for entire RoR folder, using a VPN, deleting launcher to recycle bin and restoring, trying many times relaunching the launcher, rebuilt performance counters, and tried multiple VPN services.

Im excited to get into the game, so any help would be appreciated.

EDIT - SOLVED - It seems the garbage that my laptop comes sideloaded with that runs in the background was causing a conflict. The culprit is ROG Gamersfirst service or something of that nature under processes on task manager. Ending this process has fixed several issues with other games in the past for me and I had completely forgotten about it.

It's a program that prioritises network bandwith to certain programs, it comes pre-installed on ASUS products (PCs/Laptops).

People are having issues with it so if you close something similar to "ROG Gamersfirst III Service" in your task manager it should help. Only if you're using an Asus product though.
