Return of Reckoning

I thought I would spec 1h/ shield to be less focused. But since I mostly solo in scenarios all that seems to happen is I die last. I think at this point I would like to try 2h. Any advice on what tactics and gear I should be looking out for a fresh 40. Not quite there yet. I do have full ruin and the epic quest axe. I am guessing 4x 20str/wounds jewelry, the 30 str/20 wounds cloak, the best str gems I can get. I am running into a lot of engies taking advantage of full armor talismans/ pots.

Well the eason your dying so fast is apparently that your not gearing defensively, and going 2h would mean your going to die even faster

Will tell you how i gear/spec my Black Orc at r40/rr40+ both for solo sc and grp sc + RvR.
Just to give you an idea.

rr39 titans choppa
rr39 2% block 2% parry shield.
Full mercenary ( Cuz you want the crit on 5piece)
Skaven jewel with parry or reduced change to be crit.
2x 20str/20wounds jewelry
1x 21 str/8wounds/18ws renown vendor jewel
belt: 22str/22ws or 37str/2 morale per second
Cloak: Vanguard Shroud of brawn offensive renown vendor cloak
all out str talis.

Tactics i go toughness, gork smash, stab you gooder, aoe snare.

RR Spec i go:
Full RD, rest in block
or rd1 rest in crit

Now, for RvR i swap out the 3 offensive jewels for the
3piece set jewelry with
2piece:innitiative
3piece: armor
and swap out offensive cloak + belt for devensive one
Tactics i use for RvR are:
Toughness, 10% block, morale on block and aoe snare

I use this build:

Playstyle:
use skull thumper before THC
spam aoe snare
use NIDF on wp's
Use Savin Me' Hide for toughness buff to self(Apparently the magic dmg reduction is bugged?)
Only use AoE punt when REALLY needed and mostly in a defensive manner when people are blobbed up on an ally or when offensive to place 1-2 targets out of position/reduce the gap for allyd dps.
Keep your Challenge up and aim it.
Use Taunt to interupt a ress/channel or right before THC for extra burst.
Hold The Line when getting heavy range presure.
Rest should be basic knowledge.

If you want to go 2hander i would advice to stack armor talis and go full parry in renown rank and atleast the ini+armor jewelry wich is mainly used for the very high corp resist wich helps allot vs BW's.

Armor stacking on a Heavy armor career would be very unproductive. You would get much better returns stacking initiative or wounds to survive fights. Even toughness talismans would prove more beneficial.

Umm, no. Heavy armor careers already have high armor... loading up on even more armor provides less benefit to your character than most every other option you could choose, never mind the fact you're only concerning yourself with physical damage when there are 3 other types of damage sources in the game (not counting Morales). When you have naturally high armor, you want to shift your focus to being crit less and to having more wounds to absorb more hits and especially being able to survive NON-physical damage sources. More armor won't help against BW/Sorc rotations.

3 piece resist jewels + a chosen will cap your resists.
70% physical dmg reduction is soft cap.
You want to have 70% when armor debuffed on 2hander.
Thats my opinion annyway, i dont like full offensive 2hander cuz you will die faster than rest of your group.
+ 7k wounds is enough rest is for PvE.
