Dps Warrior Priest Changes

Identify the issue
Dps Warrior Priest is not viable in any setup atm.
Explain why it’s an issue
The damage from the dps Warrior Priest is currently too low to justify picking it, even though it provides more defensive to the group than other Mdps. Further running another Warrior Priest next to a heal Warrior Priest doesn’t give much to the group because Prayer of Devotion doesn’t bring any offensive aspect to the group. A third aspect that what would probably be the best dps combo with the WP is the WL. But because of the terrible heal debuff that setup is obviously not viable. Last the fact that no dps WP is ever run in any premade I have ever seen is quite telling that there is an issue.
Propose a viable solution to the problem
I have somewhat reworked the dps trees and a couple of their abilities. I will explain per point why I believe this would help towards a total solution of the class. In general I want to increase the group damage around a dps WP, not necessarily a huge damage increase on the class itself. Let us get into the proposed changes.
1. Leading the Prayer tactic: Change the healing effect to heal you for 50% instead of healed for the same amount as your allies when they trigger the Prayer of Devotion. Add a debuff effect on Prayer of Devotion: When Prayer of Devotion is triggered on an enemy, they get a debuff that increases their chance to be critically hit by 5% for 5 seconds.
2. Swap around Leading the Prayer and Grace of Sigmar
3. Rework of Sigmar’s Shield: Cost: 80 RF; Range: 100 ft; CD: 20s; Bless your defensive target to gain 15 shield stacks for 10s that heal the target for X amount of health and remove 1 stack each time they are damaged by an ability. In addition the target is blessed to increase it’s critical damage by 25%.
4. Sigmar’s Vision: In addition to the current effect: Heal any of your groupmates within 100 ft to heal for 50% of the damage that you dealt.
5. Soulfire: Reduce cast time to 1s
6. Rework Absence of Faith: Cost: 30 AP; Range: 5 ft; CD: 10s: Deal damage equal to damage of Bludgeon, reduces healing on the target by 50% for 10s. If the target was already cursed by you, cooldown of Absensce of Faith is reduces to 5s.
7. Swap around Intimidating Repent, Cleansing Power and Divine Justice: Move Divine Justice to 7 points in Path of Wrath, Put Cleansing Power to 3 points in Path of Wrath, and put Intimidating Repent on 11 points in Path of Salvation.
Explanation of the changes
1. Currently Prayer of Devotion is quite lackluster. The tactic should be good for dps WP, but it only increases it’s survivability which the fact that you run a dps WP you already have anyway. That is why I wanted to bring in an offensive component into the Prayer of Devotion.
2. With a buff to the Leading the Prayer we have to be careful to not buff the healing WP. That is why I want this tactic to be hard to access, thus let it require 11 points in the tree, which shouldn’t be worth it for a healing WP. At the same time Grace of Sigmar won’t be of use to a healing WP.
3. Currently Sigmar’s Shield is one of the worst abilities in the game: It completely drains your RF while providing very little healing. My goal is to bring in both an offensive and defensive aspect into the skill as that should be the whole point of a dps WP. The offensive element comes from the crit damage buff, which are quite rare in the game and something unique the dps WP could give. The skill also does some good healing (let’s say around the healing of Divine Mend not effected by heal debuffs), this allows you to choose whether to use it offensive or defensive. The enemy always has to chance to focus the target of they are afraid of the extra damage of the 25% crit damage. If you have 4 people focusing the target it will go off in about 4 gcds. Further if you put it on the target being focused it will not be a huge damage increase as it will be off quite quickly.
4. Having a 2h as dps WP, you naturally have a littlee bit less parry. You have some ways to make up for it like the Fanaticism tactic and also Sigmar’s Vision. Currently though it is quite a damage and healing nerf to keep this skill up all the time. By giving a little nerfed version of Sigmar’s Radiance healing, this should help to keep Sigmar’s Vision up whenever needed.
5. Soulfire is quite a mediocre skill at this moment, especially considering it takes almost 2 gcd’s. It is nice to be able to cover stuff up and use while you are moving in melee range of your target. Changing it to 1s cast allows more and better use of the skill.
6. Let’s not compare the heal debuff to DoK, but WP has literally the worst heal debuff in the game. Giving the WP an actual strong heal debuff opens up more group setups in which the dps WP could actually work, for example with the WL.
7. The swapping around of tactics is not a must for these changes, but I believe these changes will make the tactics a bit more logical when you look at how you make your specs for both dps and healing WP. I do realize it is not logical when looking at what each tree is supposed to do, so I guess it is of personal opinion which you find more important. Currently the AoE detaunt is already easily accessible for the healing WP. The extra prayer damage is also easily accessible already. For these changes the healing WP can still pick up all the tactics they want without any trouble. But for dps WP we now give you the option to pick up a more defensive tactic in the form of the AoE cleanse. Extra prayer damage is obviously still easily accessible and the AoE detaunt is removed from the dps trees as you get it for free anyway when using a 2h.
I believe these changes together will make the WP a lot more viable. Because of the many changes it is hard to theory craft exactly how strong it will be. The changes though allow for easy changes on the numbers such as the extra critical chance on the Prayer of Devotion, the critical damage of Sigmar’s Shield or the healing it can do.
