Return of Reckoning

Im just gonna tell you about something thats been buggering me, its that I am very low level atm I would say (lvl19) got scaled up to 22 or 23 and I fought a swordmaster same level and I did like 0 damage to him in open rvr though there came a shadow warrior then some few people from destro came to help.

Though I like got killed in 4-6 seconds almost and I coulden even do any damage, felt like I did zero damage and he did massive damage to me (the sword master) are they that tanky or am I just undergeared or I dunno what to do.

Cause always when I pvp it seems like I do 0 damage. Kinda need some advice on mara pvp and how I even do any damage and wich mutation to use and spec do I need alot of hp and strenght or? It just seems that everyone is so damn tanky and im a bug getting squashed.

Previously on live when I played before I where dwarf tank (ib) or a witch hunter mostly though I had like 0 troubles on live with the damage or the how do you say this: damge mitigation?

You were a solo mdps probably under geared and what not vs a tank, mdps dont solo tanks

Without a replay or what not, i cant comment on what ever happened that resulted in your "lack of dmg"

I was using the path of savagery against the swordmaster and I was mainly using rend and a touch of rot then a flail or something then died.

At your low level I suggest this build

If you come up to a tank or melee enemy, hit them with Wounds, armor, toughness debuffs, dot them with 3 rends and keep the debuffs on them until they are at 60% health, then switch to Brutality and impale until they hit 50%, then guillotine. Rinse and repeat.

That's for a 20 renown points, at your current state, you're pretty much worthless. Your best bet is to avoid tanks altogether and kill RDPS.

Yep the game is balanced like this. Until rank 40 you will see every single SM rushing to you like a headless chicken because they know they have such an easy time against marauder. If you have a team mate you can use this behavior to lure them to a certain death. Remember: they can't stop themselves from charging you just like a cat and a laser dot.
You must avoid 1V1 with your marauder because archmage, white lion, sword master, shadow warrior, witch hunter and tanks in general are "balanced" to punish you really hard if you do, at your level.
Regarding spec: I suggest to get the spec nokralkilla proposed asap, it will let you get the basics of stance switching if you haven't already. It is true that you are more or less worthless are your level but things are really different at rank 40, rr 40+.

Worthless? As far as I remembered, I had while levelling in Scenarios the highest Kill/Death ratio beside Engineer.
Marauder who gets a little heal + "stancedance" is beastmode even at lower levels...

Yeah now get a guard with the heals to enter REAL beastmode thanks to wounds and armor debuff. Or you can play engie.

Have you ever played WH or WE in T1-2? Where I survived after a Kill with marauder 9 of 10 times as WE/WH it was maybe 2 out of 10 times... And I really dont believe that I was the "uberpro" Marauder. Just kept my gear up to date and try to adapt to every situation with my Mutations. And I did really good compared to some other classes.

As a marauder you should avoid fighting SM 1v1.

Let's add more salt to this topic.
Here are my advices for your marauder:

1) Yes gears matter, at any level. I recommand you to buy renown gears (for silvers) and update them every times you level up or get more renown. You can buy them to NPC in any keep or into Inevitable City.
Take the "survivalist" gears everytimes! And if you have enough money (or are talisman maker), slot them with toughness talismans.
Dead DPS does not DPS. You need to focus on toughness & wound before any other stats, use Brute Force to get some and It ll be fine.

2) As a Savagery marauder and here is the build you should focus on.
Once you got Concussive Jolt, you can start to improve another Path, but not before.

Why? Simply because:

- Concussive Jolt is a must have. 3 sec AoE knock down can change a fight. Preventing healers to heal their party or DPS to damage you or your party.

- During the whole leveling your main damage skill will be Flail. All your others skills have CD, are dots/debuffs wich are useless to spam more once you allready stack it to max or deals lesser damages than Flail. Increasing monstruosity path first will give you increased damages on this ability.

- Ferocious Assault is a must use ! It start at around 60 str/tough bonus and every point spend into monstruosity path increase by 10 toughness & strenght bonus. That means 5~6 points invested into monstruosity when you are near lv20 will almost double the bonus! +120 str & tough when you are lv20 is pretty insane.

3) How to play?
Start on Monstruosity stance.
1. Start every fight with Wave of Horror like this the ennemy ll spend all their cooldown on -50% damage and during this time you can...
2. Ferocious Assault, and get more toughness to prevent damages, then you can
3. Use Corruption (toughness debuff), Touch of Rot and Pulverize (if you have the lvl requiered for this skill), with luck you ll proc Gift of Monstruosity wich ll prevent armor piercing and give you some health back then
4. You can switch to Savagery and use all your others damages sources (Rend, Touch of Instability agains casters, Thunderous Blow if you have it, Tainted claw & co....)
5. If you are in bad position (under 20% life), switch back to Monstruosity to try to get proc and extend the fight untill
6. Morale 1 is UP, you can use Confusing Movements to prevent your ennemy to hit you for 7 sec and try to finish him!
7. If you come to this point, you should probably be dead. Good luck for next time.
