State of the Realms #2 (Crossrealming)

So I think it's now time we discuss the problem of xrealming. I've been doing T1 RvR for the past few hours on and off and I've come to notice a peculiar pattern that's developed. It seems like every time Order locks Nordland then all of a sudden destro numbers seem to swell up to about a full warband. The second the one unlocks though, half the warband just vanishes and all of a sudden a giant zerg of order just pushes up back to our camp. I've watched this scenerio play out 4-5 times over and over and I'm fully convinced this is due to cross realm players. Isn't there something we can do about this? I don't see a problem with people wanting to play around in both realms. I'm sure there are some classes from both sides that appeal to a players play style. But when people abuse the system it gets really old fast.

I'm not very sure what could be done to fix this problem, but I feel its getting to the point it needs to be addressed in some manner. What do the devs think are possible solutions? Any players have any good ideas?

Use the searchfunction of the forum maybe?

What the above said.

This thread is perfect.

Gachimuchi gets out his clipboard with a checklist on it

[x] Is about X-realming
[x] Is from a Tier 1 perspective
[x] Didn't use the search function

This topic has been beaten to death a a few thousand times. Devs do not have a fix currently, but they are working on it.

How fast is the zone-unlock in T1? This sounds hilarious.

Maybe removing the max-renown-level=2*player level (it is this way now, not?) for T1 would solve this problem a bit.

Xrealming? Where?! Not on this server I know. No one here does anything like that. We have honor, dignity, integrity, realm pride, and a sense of self worth that precludes switching for an easy win. I call shenanigans!

Obvious troll is obvious.... also, T1? Really?

Not possible. We have to know what the client is doing, and right now we only see the tip of the iceberg.

So... Can we equate DCs to the Titanic "crashing"?

Iceberg, right ahead!

It's more lie:
"Iceberg right ahead! Take evasive action!"
"But we don't have a steering wheel! Just an engine, sir!"
"Full throttle it is then..."

Launcher would have to have a function that gather hardware id of system peripherals (GPU, CPU, motherboard, etc) and makes a hash/id out of it.

Then long timer (i.e. 4-8h) between order/destro faction change/log-in could be actually enforced.

That is a big development task.

Trying to enforce via IP/MAC block while might maybe decrease it slightly, it won't solve it.
