What is the current highest Tier of Gear? Tried looking it up but didn't find a real answer.

Annihilator is the highest tier atm.

Honestly, that's kind of what I was hoping for. I actually like not having to grind ages for the gear, just so I can get to the point where I can stomp lowbies myself due to gear unbalance.

Heh, you might be disappointed when u start grinding those medallians.

BiS gear depends on class, it's either mercenary (scenario emblems) or Annihilator (ORvR), there is also a PQ set called Ruin which is a decent transitional set whose power level is between T3 gear and the 2 mentioned above.

Anni is pretty hard to farm, merc and ruin are pretty manageable to get 4pc. Remember you can buy boots and gloves off the AH fo about 50-150g a peice depending on your class, and if you have nice mates they can buy peices for you with their emblems/medals (only boots and gloves).

Oh are the currency ratios different from Annihilation as they were on live?

And while you won't be AS strong, obviously, shouldn't T3 Gear (don't remember set's name) still be adequate to at least not COMPLETELY suck (as it was on live upon reaching T4) while farming up?

I believe the ratios are the same. If by ratio you mean stats. Due to annihilator being the highest tier armor set at the moment farming medallions is slower then it was in live.

From my experience they have less of a drop rate as well as no reward for locking a zone. only lvl 34 and with 7 hours of t4 game play around peak time have not seen annihilator gloves or boots drop for any class.

3 hours of PQ farming got 4 piece ruin set. So use that and get t4 epics and then start grinding out other PvP sets
