Newbie questions to RVR influence

Hi,

I started a couple of days ago with RoR and I am really enjoying it so far.
I'm trying different chars to find out what classes I like.
So far I like most my Runepriest and my Bright Wizard.
This weekend I participated in T1 RVR battles in Norsca between the order and destro warcamps.
I was fighting with both chars for about 2-3 hours.
In this time my Bright Wizard maxed out his T1 RVR influence Bar.
My RunePriest has gained may be 2% of the RVR influence in the same time.
Now my questions:
* what affects RVR influence gain - why is it that my Runepriest only got a fraction of the influence of my Bright Wizard?
* why should I even bother to max out my influence in every tier, would'nt it suffice to max out the RVR influence on T4?

Is there a description of the RVR mechanics anywhere, it would be nice if some could point me in the right direction.

Maxing out lower tier influence is great for weapons and gear as you enter the higher tiers. If however you are going to power strait through to t4 then no there is no need.

Your bright wizard gets more influence because he is able to damage and kill more individuals that your RP. The best way for a RP to gain influence is to focus on healing the main dps in your group who are doing the damage/getting the kills.

Thx for the reply.
I really like the healing aspect of my RunePriest, but regarding rvr influence gain:
* would it help to be in a group/warband?
* would it help to deal more damage instead of healing?

1) The only way for healer to get good amount of Infl, RR is to play in group / wb. Another way your results will be very poor.
2) No, if you are playing RP - you should only focus on healing. On T1 only AM and WP could combine healing and DMG.

MMmm gonna echo people who gave you an answer already.

1. Would it help to be in a group/warband?

- Yes.. Healing is always appreciated, as technically you'll come across more people that wanna do damage than *cough*
Spoiler:
Play the class that has to support and not make "epic" solo plays
*cough*. Nothing against the DPS though, by all means play healer and make dps friends who you'll want to keep you safe and kill things for you!

2. Would it help to deal more damage instead of healing?

- Depends entirely on the situation where you find yourself in really. Healing is always good, having damage is good too. In a perfect world you'd have a group that has front line people, healers and damage dealers in a good balance.

In the end though, if you like healing, by all means! Play what you enjoy the most and have fun (:
