Why not make EA/Games Workshop an offer?

Why not make EA/Games Workshop an offer?
I mean, in the World we live, meanwhile everything is business (I don’t support this evolution but it’s the reality in which we live…)
So, why not contact EA/Games Workshop and simply offer them to buy the rights of WAR Hammer online back and make the whole project an official cooperative founded by crowdfunding? Every Player who co-founds is also a shareholder of the project.
They don’t make any money anymore with this game. For them it’s dead. The only counter argument would be that ROR could be a competitor to their products. However, RoR is such a niche game that the money generated (number of players) would be ridiculous compared to what they generate globally .
It would pay the costs of servers, staff, maintenance and everybody would be happy

Because it would cost several million to buy the IP rights. Plus, EA doesn't own the IP, so we'll have to deal with GW directly, and since they effectively killed WH Fantasy i doubt they'll sell the IP to us even IF we have the shiny shekels for it.

A full blown gaming company will never sell the rights to a smaller, less funded dev team because they'd be afraid of being shown up and looking bad. It's not about money. Same reason NCSoft won't sell rights to City of Heroes. Especially because they're an eastern company and wouldn't want a western company to do better at making it.

Hmm, that’s a guess…I mean it would be quiet interesting to ask and get an official answer, only to know what the official price would be or if they wouldn’t even consider the offer

Offical answer. No thanks, the less attention we draw to this from GW the better tbh. They are buttholes anyway >_>
Plus, i estimate the core IP is roughly worth in the 20-25 million range.
But still, we can all dress in pink chosen armor, helmets and everything, go to GW HQ and just start hula dancing around the building until they get TOO embarrassed and just give us the rights.
That's what i call :

I don’t think so, in the turbo capitalistic system in which we live, any company does “everything” to keep their customers (or @ least let them believe

happy and as such faithful customers to their products. In terms of Marketing it would be even a very positive effect for them…
If I learned something in my long career: everything in this World is negotiable!
They could even keep the rights, the goal would be to make it official, because I’m sure that they know exactly that this server exists.
Apparently they tolerate it…

Why not ask them for permission to run a crowdfunded server? no owner rights but a clear "This seerver is allowed by GW as a nonprofitable server"
Maybe even let them have have a gw employed dev who
overwatch the project and have insight in your ideas and code. (They can probably get this using lawyers but it would still be a pain in the ass)
That would be a sexy comercial offer for them. Considering the recent private wow servers.
+This would not cost them anything and if this server blooms out extremely well with crowdfunded server donations (Maybe even servers owned by gw so they can monitor the donations)
They can without much cost and time see how well a "legal RoR server" would work.

Games Workshop owns Warhammer, but Sega currently owns the right to produce warhammer games. So you'd have to convince both, and potential sell the idea that WAR would be profitable to Sega enough to revive the project. But you'd have convince them that by reviving they'd make profits in the millions a year, and pay the costs of development. Old WAR wouldn't do that, I don't think. You'd have to create a whole new warhammer MMO game design that'd compete and sell on today's markets.
