PvP system

Hi,

Was wondering if it is possible to do something new in the game like implementing new value similar to influence points, renown, etc.

I think this might be part of a solution as it should encourage more smaller skirmishes in rvr zone.

New value could be called Faction Point. 1 kill (last hit would ensure ownership of the kill) would provide killer with 100 FP (faction points) if he was solo. If person is part of a group of 5 people then 100 points just gets divided by 5 and everyone gets a share, if he was part of a warband it gets divided by 20+ people and everyone receives couple pools. Sharing points like this would ensure that tanks, supports and healers get contribution as well. Healer healing a killer that is not in his party would not get any points.

Every week or month people should be able to see top 20/50/100 players of each faction (50 order/50 destro) which can also be extended into each race (50emp, 50dwarf, 50elf). There could be a list of top killers that week/month and a list for top killers overall (ones with most points so far). These points would not reset unless there was a bug or exploit of course.

This would get all those pvpers that love feeding their ego into the rvr zone to get as many points as possible. It is also possible that people would prioritize smaller parties as warbands would net them small ammount of points.

This would include some coding (both game and website so data could be transferred to web easily).

Reward for these top killers could be special symbol next to their name maybe so every person in the game can see that they are dealing with one hardcore player.

There should also be a Guild list on website where everyone could see which guilds have most FP (if one player leaves a guild and joins another one than previous clan would lose points of course as they are tied to the player, not to the clan directly). Top pvp guilds (ones with most points) should have access to special dies that are not possible anywhere else and to special cape designs (maybe even special effects on the cape).

I have no idea if something was mentioned like this but this is just my opinion.

EDIT: we could even have new NPCs in game that would inform players of current situation so website is not the only option of checking FP progress

EDIT 2: death would make player lose 50 or 100 FP (could be tested to see)

EDIT 3:
Player kill = 100 FP (shared within a group or wb)
Player death = 100 FP
BO capture would provide attackers with 150 FP (shared if a group)
Keep attack would give each attacker 200-500 FP depending on length of the siege and amount of deaths/kills.

They are reworking RvR constantly trying to kill too much zerging and pvdoor action. Just typing some things that might help.

This system would encourage smaller skirmishes as there are many people that would hunt for these points.

At the moment there are not many small fights (if any) and fights tend to happen around BOs and Keeps, that is all, this would make sure more parts of rvr zone is used.

It would just encourage gank squads as people wouldnt want to be part of their realm warband and share their points with 20+ other people when they can stay in their 6 man

As I said this is part of a solution. These small ganking squads would be fighting around BOs, trying to catch people going for postern doors and what not not by staying close to keep but by blocking the roads. It would definitely increase need of tactics. Atm we have couple warbands bashing on door while half of people are afk waiting for bag roll.

Ganking solo players has about as much tactics as zerging. These groups dont seek out each other. As you said they just wait for people going to keep. You need to encourage them to fight each other over the bos.

They had similar things on the DAoC website. Kills per week/lifetime, RP's gained week/lifetime. Everyone loves to see their name in lights.

No one said that they would gank just solo players, there would be more group fights. Besides, I never understood why solo players complain when they die in rvr. If you run alone in rvr zone better be prepared for loads of things. And this small group could annoy attackers so much that they have to send more people back to help getting backups.

This is an rvr game. What should be encouraged is taking part in the realm war. Taking bos and locking zones. If people are just looking for meaningless ganking there are plenty of games with that. Now a counter with most bos locked or keep taken sure sounds great. You arent special you are part of a realm.
