Hello everyone
Returning to RoR, thank you to all who keep it up, i would be happy to do anything to keep it going, I am a DBA, but willing to do 3d art to get some better armor skins etc.
no this is not an application, just ideas like the title
so my ideas.
1. Like RTS but in this world of MMO, maybe by guild or by race, in a GIANT open battle area in the world, able to setup a command center, have pions or even players collect resources, these resources can build other buildings or armor etc. that can be used to attack the other side, which the other side, being the other faction, might be sitting in an area with looots of... whatever, to make/craft or get that missing part from mining, mob etc. so there would be a reason to attack the other team.
2. small 2 vs 2 games, equal classes/equipment/levels, sadly like WoW, but we can do what WE want
3. Doing PVP to level up? take items from defeated foes
Might get a loot of backlash and "Ur an idiot" but, hey, wanted to throw stuff out there, maybe this is to advaned, but I have confidence in the people running the server they can do anything... IN TIME and if its a good idea PVP wise

While I do think some of your idea are way out there, you can already level up in PVP and get loot from defeated foes
Glad to have you back!

I don't know how I feel about the first or second idea, but I do kind of like the third. I like the idea of two players dueling for gear in a controlled environment. Did you mean something like, a challenge would be issued and players decide on what the opposing player would receive upon victory or like a "you die, you lose all your equip" type of thing.
As for the new / better looking gear, it could be a good idea, and could be a bad idea. Generally you don't want to change too much or you take away from what the game originally was. For instance, all new / new looking gear would have to be very similar in style so it can replicate Warhammer. Being a 3D modeler myself, I can see that being a HUGE job, but could be interesting.

Problem with dueling for gear is people will need on stuff they shouldnt just to drop in to their friends later. Thats a problem with mmos for every nice idea you have to think how the bad people will exploit it.

That's not only in mmorpgs Telen. Coming from the mud world, wotmud, I can tell you that once you introduce PK (player killing) Murphy's law kicks immediately in.
You have to properly create a game for full loot in oRvR and RoR isn't suited for that. Same for the RTS aspect, lakes aren't made for this kind of gameplay so would have to create an entire new sandbox and I don't see it work with only 2 factions.
I'm not a PvPer so I'm not going to judge about dueling or any kind of low number structured players vs players combat. I'm not against you folks getting it, why not, as long as I'm also geting some of my wishes through as oRvRer.

In diablo you´ve got the ears of defeated foes. In RoR there are addons which simulate this (deathblow).
I don´t remember if you got the gear of the defeated player, but I RoR this would be a bad idea, when the gear will removed from the loser (the zerg will grow bigger and bigger

).
When you get a duplicate of the gear from the other player, it is maybe too easy to get good gear.

thanks for all your input, and ya, first idea was waaay out there, and maybe would require a lot of time, these ideas are only wishful ideas, and responding to GreySovereign, ya making sure the gear is of course updated or look similar to the style currently but adding more ideas to it. and yes, a big job, a big job for me and you to do?
as for the other PVP stuff, it would be nice, if you defeat your foe, AND I MEAN, defeat your foe that is a couple levels under or above you, then you loot an item from them, imagine the hate lol. I say 2 to 3 levels above or below because what if you have a level 35 killing all these level 2 or 3's for there equipment, then selling it off or giving it to there alt? lol

I always find the ideas that stray are always the best and most interesting, its always nice to see how the game could be improved from the eyes of someone new, since a lot of us stick to what we know. Its just a shame that there is so much potential with a game like warhammer due to its massive source of information, however it was never expanded upon due to unfortunate circumstances. I always thought being able to get launched by a catapult as a choppa onto a keep wall would be a great addition to the game since well... its what they do really, but again time constraints and other limitations prevent this, wishful thinking indeed
