Hi and Happy easter all,

sorry for my english i'm italian.

So i'm trying to play a magus but i don't know what i have to know to play it rightly.
I like dot casters, like warlock on wow, but I don't like melee caster so i would play a med/heavy distance.

At last i ask for various tips to know!

Thanks all guys

First of all, hi and welcome! As someone who played a shadow priest/lock on WoW for many years, I can tell you that the class most similar to an affliction lock would be a DPS AM right now. Magus in Havoc/Change is similar to a Chaos Bolt Lock/Clarity of Power spec'd Shadow Priest.

Depends what you want to do (assuming you are R40/RR40):

1) Large-scale RvR? http://waronlinebuilder.org/#career=mag ... :;0:0:0:0: (Maybe one day, M4 will be good! Otherwise you can go and get IFOC at the expense of one of your daemonology abilities)

Playstyle:
- Your sole purpose is to rift your enemies into your WB's AOE DPS. Dot everything up, perhaps save for morale 2 rolling winds (you should be using resolute defence as soon as you're about to rift), rift, AOE KD (if noone else is applying it), and go to town.
- Melee-mid range caster.

2) Mid-range AOE fluffbot!
http://waronlinebuilder.org/#career=mag ... :;0:0:0:0:
- All about dem dots.
- You can swap out tactics depending if you want to go a bit ST as well

3) Long-range nuker (ST Burst DPS - aka Chaos Bolt locks!)
http://waronlinebuilder.org/#career=mag ... :;0:0:0:0:
- You can use the tactic Daemonic Withering if you're in a group/assisting. It's a 15% increase to overall damage - take it, and try to hide your Withered Soul behind other dots like glean magic.
- Revolves around dotting your single target, casting bolt of change, and coinciding its arrival on target with a surging insanity + surging violet fire + indigo fire of change.

I prefer running all in Change:

I usually start tossing around my aoe-dots to cover up my single dots and putting the Dissolving Mist where it hits the most ppl to distract their healers. Afterwards, I start focussing single targets with single dots + rend winds + indigo fire of change + surging violet fire. Usually works pretty well.

Renown is max crit and the rest in int.

Well, before all, really thanks both.

First thing Path of Changing seems be better for dots.
No i would know which is a good spell rotation especially, really interesting, against enemies.

Using aoe dot will distract healers then focussing against a single target, full dott and then rotation on other single target?

One thing you should know is that AOE DoTs aren't really that good: they tick for relatively low damage, are easily healed through, and get cleansed VERY often - with no repercussions, unlike warlock's unstable affliction.

Even with changing, your single-target won't be enough to burst down most players which is why I recommend Havoc endgame mixed with change.

Heres my build, nothing special, but it pumps out insane dps.

Is very interesting what are you saiyng dude.

I have to try, explore and understand spells because i don't know nothing about Magus (i start today but servers are down... what luck eh?)
However i would ask why noone use, on Havoc tree, Fiery Winds and Changer's Blessing?
Both trees however seems better way after thinking about it!
THanks!
