Re: Ability Rework Progress

I dont get it, sorc/bw are far from have dot problem, as long they use them in their rotation.
The only issue i see with dot are related only to engi/magus as they have not good direct damage skill or base rotation and they are based on dot for that. Even if Squig are not so good as sw in burst damage they do fine, i assume that if sw/squig do less damage it's because of their cc components that sorc/bw dont have ( or they shouldn't). I see dot as a +, as a start damage that do not take attention before the real damage burst on theme and contribuite to mitigate the hot heal. The only dot build i see, it can be done on SH/Am and engi/magus.

Sorcs/BW have one build using a backloaded burst rotation all other builds (and one for bombing). The burst build works when they can pick out noobs in the zerg or SC that don't get cleanse or when they face a 6-man that strangely enough don't use cleanse. It happens don't ask me why they do it.

(At one point back in the dark days there actually was a viable dot spec until they blocked the leech dot from ticking on multiple enemies. Was cool as hell for solo roam)

You should really try a BW/Sorc dot spec cause having done this I can tell you they are so inefficient you immediately want to delete your toon or do like Bob Geldof and create MAGUS-ENGI-AID

6v6 where both sides use cleanse group cleanse and guard a BW / Sorc is the weakest link and a liability. Sure a few players excel and do reasonably well but the same 6man with a DD is many times better. All theses "good ones" relied on bugged talismans to get near 100% crits.

That's the point dot on sorc/bw are not the way to do damage. They are classes that do not use dot as a primary source of damage, they are a form of surplus.
This isn't the same for engi/magus; they primary use dots as source of damage. I see just more benefith fix them, cos you still need to fix them because 60 point to summon a deamon are to lol at. Also i agree some form to force dok/wp to play more front line should be introduces but i don't agree with this. You can't base their whole role on just 1 tactic. Also Order will still had 2 rkd make impossible for dok frontline heal with out being every time gang bag from 10 ppl with even be able to detaunt.

"That's the point dot on sorc/bw are not the way to do damage"

Why?

Turret costs and immobility are mere inconvenience compared to problems of long dots, 100 feet group cleanse and dot CDs (gimping assist).

Well lets agree to disagree. This isn't black and white only shades of grey :)

Ye i just see sorc/bw damage more oriented to direct damage, like how can i say; 70% direct damage and 30% dot.
You know they are iconic classes: fireball and doombolt. While if i think to a magus i can get like 50%-50%.

You can't say that.
It fully depends on spec. It is 50:50 for dot spec. Other specs have more direct damage. You would use the 2sec casts instead of 3sec doombolt in a dot rotation. The timing fits better and the damage/second of both casts is the same.

Magus damage is much more based on direct damage. Sure, the number of dots in all trees is higher but you don't use most of them. Only 2 (rarely 3) fit in a proper single target rotation.
Dying is no option.

The AOE armor debuff + Slayer would have caused 1000s of whine pages on forum. Choppas basically are ST so it was EPIC fail in design.

Reliable self heals on tanks .. don't get me started on this this like the worst thing ever.

ye i refer generaly to the source of what they have to do damage, as you stated, magus have generaly more dot, even if most dont get used, and it's bad, while over time i got see plenty of different bw spec. Just personal opinion btw nothing objective.

Disciplines? Or what?

I fail to understand how the proposed change to AM is different than mine(well except it's 3 stacks instead of 5 ;) ). I'd love to see how classes looked before they were pigeonholed. Have a link/screenie/anything?
The other suggestion had vaul spells use stacks from either healing or dps. So it gave more choice.

The idea of autocrits is ok for higher tiers. In lower tiers though you could get to 5 stacks and throw out an autocrit lifetap. Thats would make them even crazier solo.

Dont know if theres anything left online of the original AM. The paths were very different. Like having lifetap in isha and snare pool in vaul. Some skills were different like drain magic doing damage. A big difference was magical infusion used to be a healbless that increased heal to a target by 20% so AM was back then the best healer.

Those talking about drain magic being op. Dps AM is ap starved. The drain was increased from 80 at launch to 130 for that reason.

Magi were AP starved (and they're an actual DPS archetype!): let's give them an AP-drain spell, too!
