That's a bit over dramatic, I'm sure the other melee classes would love to have pounce on a 5 - 10 CD. It would still make a fantastic gap closer.

I don't think in WLs current state pounce needs to be touched.

However, if you buff the class and put in on par with Mara/Slayer damage wise you would need to look at pounce. You can't have an ultra mobile class that does just as much damage as the less mobile classes.
sure, but WL is MUCH squishier than Mara, with less staying power. Mara will get their pull eventually as well. hard to balance classes when max lvl is 26 atm, maybe 31 (or whatever) soon.

I completely agree, I think it's silly when people complain about t2 balance. I think balance should always be discussed with 40/80 in mind.

I think you misunderstood, I'm not suggesting pounce needs to be changed or is overpowered. I was simply saying, it's over dramatic to say it would be useless with a 5 - 10 second cooldown. I'm not suggesting it should have a cooldown, I was answering the other user who said, if it did it would be useless.

The only reason I think pounce should have a cooldown applied is if the class has a major overhaul.

on a srs note class balance should also be discussed between ppl who know what they are talking about not by some pen and paper warriors which are utter garbage at the game. this thread, the tank balance thread and the engi/magus balance thread is full of braindeads which just c/p the common rdm opinion about something with the slightly difference that everyone adds his own unserious selfish opinion. close to everyone in this thread doesn't even know how to determine the word balance in a mmo nor did they ever play the class they are talking about or test stuff.

don't get me wrong you won't see me typing things like "the mrd himself is balanced" in a srs post but there are a lot of things which needs to find respect b4 anything gets changed when it comes to balance.

Does one need a PHD in Warology or will a Bachelor's Degree be enough to discuss balance. :lol:

I'm joking around, but I'm trying to illustrate a point, we have no way to say who is or isn't qualified to discuss balance.
Without a way to determine qualifications, everyone has the right to discuss balance.

We have to have trust in the Devs that they will be level headed and will be able to balance well. Nothing the Devs have done so far have given me any reason to doubt them. I love how they listen to the community for example adding a flat renown increase per kill or adding AAO once it's working correctly. I also love how they handle things when they screw up for example, keep trading for full devastator getting wiped.

I agree with you, I've see some opinions on balance that I think are ridiculous. I'm sure some people think thing I say are ridicious too.

Good players which have an idea of groupplay are qualified to discuss balance.

Sadly you can't say that from most who frequently post their opinions on balance here.

The idea of a "good" player is too subjective.


To make it not subjective you would need to establish a baseline of performance that is considered average. From there you would need to be able to say how much better than the baseline makes you, "good".

A lot of times good can simply be a popularity contest. I've known players who many thought were good that I've thought where just average, they were just popular.


I mean, don't get me wrong, I get what your saying, I'm just nit picking.

For example, I can think I'm good if not really good at most MMOs. Other people can think I'm complete trash. Without a real measurement, neither of us would be right.

The situation is further complicated by good players not necessarily being articulate players, and potentially being manipulative players as well. Manipulating the process of balance to preserve your own advantage within the game could be considered valid metagaming by some.
