Nvm I came back.
I guess I love this game more than I hate SC.

Id say the number of people that just solo is similar in number to those that pre. They are both a minority in a game that is about rvr. I spend most of my time in open warbands. Like most others. Everyone has a different idea about what this game is 'meant' to be. Its an mmo at the end of the day.peterthepan3 wrote:
No disrespect intended, but if it meant that more people were forming groups and playing together, I think the loss of a few people who insist on playing alone in a group-based game wouldn't be too catastrophic.
I echo a lot of what has been said thus far: people feeling the need to be on their A-game, feeling that premades may shout at them if they do something wrong, and the feeling that a few incentives are needed.
I think the attitude that the game is meant to be played a certain way and everyone else is doing it wrong is a good example of why many people arent interested.
If people wanted to get involved with premades they would already be doing it. The rewards are there with increased renown and drops. No need to lock gear to a certain playstyle that 90% of the playerbase have so far showed no interest in. If you want people to get involved think how you can actually make it fun. Not ways to force them. A good start would be maybe not telling people its only pres that are playing the game correctly.

There is an old English saying that sums up this issue:
Different horses for different courses
This game appeals to many folk who play it in many ways. I wouldn't be surprised to find some players who ignore pvp entirely and just do pve.

Do you not find it a shame that in a group-based PvP game, '90%' of people have no interest playing in organised groups/warbands, nor delving into the game's potential and unlocking cool synergies?Telen wrote:Id say the number of people that just solo is similar in number to those that pre. Who said anything about playing correctly? By your own admission, you play in open warbands - that is grouping up, to an extent. I am curious about people that don't even do that, and the reasons for this choice.

Re: Let's talk: what would make YOU want to group?
Thing is, this not only a PvP game. This is a Warhammer Fantasy game; i'm sure lots of players only joined because of the IP and have zero interest in competitive PvP.
Re: Let's talk: what would make YOU want to group?
I mostly play alone or with guildies. Not because I hate grouping.... with the right people I quite enjoy it. But I dont like the drama the lfg channel provides. A lot of people there think, only because you use comms and have a setup, you are as good as a real premade. If they then loose to a premade which spent years of blood and sweat to get this good, most people throw a temper. I dont really like that attitude.peterthepan3 wrote:

Thats one reason. The second is, I am not really a big fan of competitive gameplay. I do my best, which isnt the worst play in the game I would say, but if I lose I dont mind congratulating the enemy. So, if I dont play with friends I dont see the reward for the work to get a random premade really good.
And third reason: I have a rather erratic time scedule so if guildies are playing I join, if not I play alone, for the first two reasons.
And fourth.... what Penril said.

Re: Let's talk: what would make YOU want to group?
I mean there's nothing inherently 'competitive' about forming a group: competitive groups are those who actively seek out worthy fights - either in the form of 6/12/24vX, or group v group. The actual amount of groups actively seeking this are probably less than 5, with several others who will (often begrudgingly) give you a 50/50 chance of them saying yes to a fight.
Otherwise, I can see where you are coming from. I get the rager elitism argument.

In all honesty I prefer scenarios to RVR. It's more fun for me but everyone has different views.
Currently I'm level 22 but doing the Elf Chapter one for the love of the lore and the pve storylines. Popping into SC's as they come up.
