Thank you for the response. It's unfortunate this decision was made after the single target magus was placed in a hamstrung position. As I stated before, I appreciate all that was done and tried on class balancing. Experimentation is part of the process, this is why I held off on commenting about the changes to the Magus single target done in Dec. so a larger number could judge for themselves. I hope things change such that eventually this and other balancing issues can be relooked at. I understand balancing can be very difficult and frustrating. Thanks again for your efforts.Azarael wrote:It means that the question of balance will not be addressed further for the foreseeable future, in any direction. This may change at Sovereign level, and then again, it might not. That not only means no changes, it means no reversions, because the state stabilisation thread demonstrated to me that balancing efforts are pointless.

Re: Considering the single target Magus post the changes to Bolt of Change
The 4/22/17 Patch Notes include a number of changes to the Black Guard class. This indicates that classes changes are again occurring (even if in an experimental capacity). Therefore, the status of the single target magus Havoc Mastery Tree should be reconsidered. The detail of the discussion lay in this same thread. The simple points for review are:
1) Bolt of Change (BoC) was moved to the 13 point place and Tzeentch's Firestorm to the 9 point placement in the Havoc line. This change in placement was tied to BoC having a 5 second cool down. The idea being, the mastery defining ability would only be available to those committed to the focus.
2) Afterwards BoC at the 13 point slot had its cool down changed to 10 seconds.
3) This leads to the issue: BoC should be returned to a 5 second cool down, so the single target magus remains a viable DPS comparable with and to other DPS. This point is argued and demonstrated through the body of this thread. If not, then BoC should be returned to its original 9 point placement in the Havoc Spec. The current status is the worse of both worlds: single target magi have lost comparable viability with BoC now having a 10 second cool down, and the same has been placed out of reach of mastery build options for all other non Havoc mastery foci.
4) BoC should be returned to a 5 second cool down, or BoC should be returned to its original 9 point placement in the Havoc Tree.
Note: these changes would also need to be mirrored with Engineer Snipe.

Once the balance forum is open, you can make a proposal. Until then the same rules apply. We're not discussing balance in general channels.
