Interesting. I have a few questions:

1) If you you could change their group cleanse tactic, how would you change it?

2) If their cast times are longer, would you let them be setback? Considering they can't kite as well as other healers. So if their group heal now takes 2.5s instead of 1.5, would you make it so they can't be set back? Also, would you increase the value of the heal?

3) How would you change their group HoT's and Absorb shield?

to first point:

If i were able to change the group cleanse tactic i might put a cooldownincrease on their cleanse so that is 50% to 100% higher.
or if there is no cooldown yet give it a cooldown so that they need t wait for it or even need to look when and what they cleanse.



to 2nd:

bind the cast time on range, as nearer they are in close combat ther faster their heals .
or give the greater heals / grp heals a cooldown wich is reduced for melleattacks for 2 sec per hit or so.


to point 3

well i just think give them a divided cooldown soi that they must look whats situated better, the grp hot or shield.
make it more situational.

Having melee attacks create a buff which reduces the cooldown of certain abilities is actually quite interesting.

If it lets a Salvation WP keep his group alive with SR for at least 2 GCDs (while he regains resources), then sure. Keep in mind pretty much no healer stacks Willpower in this game, specially WPs who are forced to go to the frontline; they will most surely stack armor/toughness/wounds talismans. Renown points also go to defense.

Exactly. I tried doing it earlier, relying entirely on base strength to stack willpower on Grace. You'd need to hit the soft-cap just to counter the drain of Divine Fury and Fanaticism. It just doesn't work. I'd rather stack armour and clutch by on the base heal with Grace of Sigmar. At least then I won't die instantly.

The other part is that the tactics in Grace and Sacrifice would have to be shifted. I could see ET / GoS at 9pts to give Salvation access to it when off-speccing Grace for a full healer build, but whether that'd be balanced (and what would end up happening to Leading the Prayer which is also quite neat) I do not know.

Before the aoe detaunt location was chnaged I ran grace on my WP for the wounds buff and ran leading the prayer. It was great. Never had to heal myself. I get what you're saying about it being to streamline but linking those trees and forcing actual choices to be made when specing is part of the game. I think group cleanse being in grace tree would do alot to make melee healing viable

Of course. I hope I have not given you the impression that a class should have everything. I'm merely saying that in order to change the way Salvation builds resources (i.e. nerf the backlining element), the melee heal side of things is something they will also need to be able to draw on. A similar situation exists for primary Grace spec, which should be able to draw usefully upon some of Salvation's casted heals if Salvation is the off spec, while still primarily being a melee healer.

@Penril: Point taken. The Willpower situation is something I find quite sad.

To me leading the prayer is a perfect example of a tactic that is only good for you in situations where you were going to win anyway, when your team and you are in trouble, they are probably not hitting enough for it to do anything good for you.

But well, to be honest Grace itself at the moment is a great example of that very same thing.

I like LtP because of its potential. I've run it before and had at times cranked out 600-1200 health a second, which allowed me to dedicated Divine Assault almost solely to healing the team. My only problems with it is that it's RNG based and requires your team to be attacking. It has great potential, but it's not fun having your defense be a roll of the dice.
