When you pop out of stealth and fail to kill the target quickly, then you have to die, period.
The ranged snare is no 1on1 tool, it is properly used against fleeing targets who can't defend both sides to avoid the snare. Ganking doesn't mean that you solo the target. Group up with another stealth class.

Jumping is vital for kiting in general, because circle strafing continuously reduces the distance to your target and you often have to change your direction.

On live there was no noticeable advantage like the lag jumping mentioned here. If it is fixable, I am sure it will be fixed and if not, then jump as well.
Wait a sec here, so you want me to group with other stealthers to be effective? Silly.

The ranged snare IS a 1v1 tool though, I've used it probably twice while in scenario groups. Can you list all the "Melees have plenty tools to stay or get into melee range." Wouldn't mind knowing what you mean by this?
You want to be effective against anyone on your own? Keep on dreaming. When your dmg is too low to kill them during knockdown or shortly after, then you simply need assist.
When you think like this about the ranged snare then it might be you lacking experience.

What tools melees may have?
Charge
Pounce
Stealth to get close
Snare/Root Immunity
Resolute Defense
Cleansing Wind
Snare Attacks
Knockdown/Disarm/Silence Attacks
Moral Root
Disrupt Buff
Moral Dodge/Parry Buff

All tools to get close, to stop the target or to make you immune to their countermeasures.
Not all is valid for every melee class but you seriously want to tell me, that you need even more?

loool , as a melee (with no stealth) there is no freaking way you ll get to a ranged on time to finish him with all those ability , unless you just bump into him from a corner and then again , we not here to play hide and seek , now for the stealth , did you know that as soon as you are out of stealth it is almost game over if the ranged is a lil bit good , with my SW , aint no way you ll ever touch me , looool .

You are obviously bad at ganking.
You start the fight (almost) in melee range. Yes, we all know that currently all are visible on map, which makes ganking for the most classes pointless.
Do you want to me to write down what skills you have to use to hold your hand? I wrote down what tools you have. Use them.

That's a really dishonest way of arguing. There have been a couple so far, and people do it all the time, but I don't like seeing it regardless. You can't name ALL the melee abilities, then tell each melee to suck it up and l2p when only a couple items on that list will apply to each person, and each item has its own string of problems (some are perfectly fine, btw, but to say melee has an easy time doing anything in MMOs is just dishonest).

Anecdotal example: I called up the student loan people. They said, "Let me present you with some options." Sounds good right? Until you realize there's only one effective option and it still sucks. Does the example overlay transparently? No, but it's clear enough. You should address what's relevant, as opposed to, "Look at your wide variety of options! You suck!" no, the argument sucks, and should be tried again.

I'm just here to get a feel for how the discussion is going... but this direction doesn't help anything.

About as fun as the Toughness vs Armor thread.

100 replies, 100 opinions, no consensus.

Actually most options on that list apply to every mdps, just not the same ones.

Did I say it is easy? Is it easy to play a healer or tank properly? When something is too hard, build a group! ;)
