The live devs said it was too much work to put in all the NPCs and PQs required to make these into functional capitals but I wonder how much work it would take to use these as city siege maps?

Some unused Maps may find its way into the game as Custom Scenarios. But most likely nothing else

Didn't mythic float the ideas of unused cities and other things being converted into new scenarios? That would be really cool. I would love to see more scenarios with murder ball/bauble objectives. Capping flags is boring :D.

I was hoping the devs would add in the capital cities and come up with fanfic quest lines and NPC's, I have a pretty good script for a questline involving a love triangle between high king thorgrim, karl franz and a certain gobbo. Taking place in Naggarond where they uncover malekith is in love with the phoenix king who also turns out to be his half brother.

Just learned that Part III of Return to Ekrund – A Stronghold Saga (last live event) would have been a fight to retake Karak Eight Peaks.

hmm a scenario that takes place in Karaz a Karak or Karak eight peaks would be really nice :)
like a "defend the city" type of thing.

I was thinking more in terms of doubling the number of city invasion SC maps so it isn't just Altdorf and IC every day (in T4).

and then we wouldnt have the elven cities cause they are not in the game files...

I don't know how much work would be required or what the exact limitations are but city invasion SCs don't need (many) NPCs or PQs so as long as the map is ok I assume the mechanics can be copied across from Alt/IC.
