Re: Dev(s) classes

All this talk of new classes really makes me excited to see how they handle the rest of the project.

I was wondering though, what kind of limitations are set already? I saw some talk about having to use assets already in game to create something new. Are you guys just unable to create new content because of coding or do you guys just lack the necessary manpower/ programs to make new armors or models for it?

What would be the biggest issue you would run into when making new classes aside from balance and RvR game play?

- Edit -

I would Also like to pitch my own two cents on classes too.

Dark Elf Corsairs / Dwarf Rangers
A soft mirror of a Melee / mid-ranged class. These two classes can act in a similar way as the SW does but in a shorter range and more flexible in melee. Both are classes that act in medium to short range as they both carry ranged weapons and have the ability to close in on their targets. The crossbow for the Ranger and the repeater crossbow for the Corsair.

Ranger -
Spoiler:
"Rangers have learned to be stealthy and to fight in a manner unique for Dwarfs. Rangers are walking arsenals and carry a slew of different weapons — crossbows to skewer foes at long range, throwing axes for close ranged slaying while on the move, an axe for close combat and, for truly imposing foes, great axes. " - Warhammer Fantasy Wiki ( http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Dwarf_Rangers )

Rangers can be seen in game on various locations in the Dwarf / Greenskin Campaign. They are wearing Rune Priest hoods, low tier Engineer gear, IB torso, a crossbow, a shield and a trusty axe to close in on their enemies. They can use animations from Engineer and Ironbreakers. They can use the same ability to switch between range/melee like how the engineer does

The Ranger, as seen in game, carries a shield. This would make for a very interesting class as they could use medium armor and have a shield to use block. Also in lore they are known to have great weapons to engage targets much larger than they are. A rough idea of how the class tree could be can be:

Ranged / 2h / SnB

This allows them to spec in to what they want. I'm imagining zero AOE skills and they would focus on single targets. They could use a guard mechanic but wouldn't be a tank. Something of the mix of an Ironbreaker and an Engineer but not as good as either.

They could also have a limited stealth. Something like they can stealth but they cannot move or the enemy will have a 100% detection rate. Like they place down a bush which gives them a stealth and if they move out of the bush their stealth is removed.

Lore-wise they very rarely work in groups. So I assume most of their abilities are focused on themselves and their buffs are single target at most. They can also sport some set up abilities like the Engineer and have to set up traps to put them at the advantage.
Corsair -
Spoiler:
"As they tend to do most of their fighting in the topmasts of ships and the crowded tangle of dockside streets, Black Ark Corsairs prefer fast weapons that give them an edge in one-on-one fights. Cutlasses, punch daggers and barbed knives are common, as are repeater handbows." - Warhammer Fantasy Wiki ( http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/ ... k_Corsairs )

Corsairs can be seen in game throughout the Dark Elf / High Elf Campaign. They are seen wearing predominantly DoK gear, including weapons and gear. They should be easy enough to implement as they could use mainly DoK animations and gear. Their gear can be pulled from DoK & some Black Guard items. Their repeater crossbows can be seen on Reapers.

The Corsair, as seen in the game, dual wield blades. They would use parry as the Ranger uses block. They can use animations, if the models work correctly, from the WH with their crossbows/handbows and work as a semi-mirror to the WH and the Ranger.

They could have a limited stealth if they are in groups, so for every player near them they get a bonus to not being detected if standing still. This could be useful in sieges or pre-mades as they could fool the enemy to how many opponents they face. Their stealth would be a very limited version of the WH / WE and be more group-oriented. A rough idea of their class tree could be:

Ranged / Group / Solo

They also sport nets and AOE slow downs / traps. Their armor would be medium as they do not use shields or metal armor, instead favoring sea dragon hide to preserve them. Lore-wise they work on huge ships and need cooperation to function.
Anyways that's my idea for a new mirror set. I was thinking about them since you guys talked about having new classes and wanted to share them.
