Mercenary is the same tier as Annihilator, i.e. both are endgame, but one set is much harder to get. That was my only point with the quoted post.

And Ruin is in the same tier as Merc and Annihlator as well, and is super easy to get...Ruin plays into class archetype just like anni does. If you really want Anni over Ruin then it's because you wish to optimize.
Going back to my original point, the carrot is optimization not competitiveness.

Ruin is in between devastator and annihilator. Bloodlord from bastion stairs was the same tier as annihilator.

You are correct Nekkma, Ruin is not as good as devastator its a 3.5 set. But it is good enough for you to get by, much like the consignment sets. For some reason I thought it was on par with the T4 sets...When BL comes out that will help flesh out optimization and mitigate speed of which you received gear. Ruin is good enough to be competitive though. The gap between Ruin and Anni is relatively small in comparison.

I agree. Devastator is perfectly viable even. I guess I am just slightly annoyed that it feel like I am ptrogressing faster on my seldom played alts
