Russian Gms
Re: Russian Gms
I don't see any harm in having a Russian-speaking GM. As long as it is not Soulcheg.

Re: Russian Gms
So twyxx proves his point for him?
1 greek
2 italian
3 french
2 Dutch
1 spanish
2 german
and a quick scroll showed 6 russian guilds on first few pages of the forums.
The point was it doesn't appear to be any other language that has quite so many seperate guilds. I don't care about this however. And it does seem that I see quite a few different russian guild names while playing, but this is observational bias obviously. I don't go out of my way to inspect every enemy/ally guild.
Play with those that you can understand/like. I don't care.
The interwebs have some damned good translators out there, so for GM interaction I don't see it being mandatory, but I can garuntee that a GM who speaks the language will simplify matters.
This is an issue for all races all languages all over the world. People congregate around those whom are similar. if you want to branch out you will do so, if you don't. Then don't. Same with playing a DPS zealot if you want too. Go for it!
As long as you aren't going out of your way to be a **** and force your crap upon others... Who cares?

Re: Russian Gms
You missed the point I was making...
That aside though, I see a mostly general consensus that there's no negative aspect of a Russian speaking GM upon others.

there's
only
a
bazillion
Russian
guilds
and
not
any
bunches of other nationalities
I just don't see how having a Russian-speaking GM can negatively impact non-Russians. I'm all for this idea.
uh...thanks for proving my point? Are there 300 greek guilds in the game? or dutch? didn't think so.
point of the matter is no other nationality demands nor needs a GM respective of their respective nationalities - why should Russians? it's not a difficult thing to sort out, by any means, and if it helps the greater good then do it! it's more the principle than anything that I am talking about.
I just feel that if the community really wishes to come together and do away with any racial segregation, some simple steps (learning basic elementary english) should be encouraged instead of bandaids that will not remove the ethnic enclaves 'certain nationalities' insist on playing in.
I would like to take this opportunity to petition for a /10 irish channel, and for an irish GM to facilitate to Halhammer and myself.

Re: Russian Gms
Too late to nominate Scrillian?
Need someone with a sense of humour that also speaks english.
Also I dont get why someone would oppose a russian GM, as if this was a person that is russian biased.
A GM knowing russian would limit their freedom in terms of insults and would make sure the rules/gm orders were understood perfectly before considering a ban for ignoring them.
More like an overseer not a reward.

Re: Russian Gms
I don't understand why non-russian speakers (staff excluded) are even commenting here
Edit: yeah, I'm going to lock this thread, not because I don't think the request for a Russian-speaking GM isn't a valid one, but because it's being derailed by trolls. I hear you loud and clear, but I can't promise a solution any time soon.
