Why the magus hate?

Magus is powerful endgame as a ST assist once you get:

* A spec that has both BOC and IFOC;
* Enough crit;
* A good group to assist with

However, if you don't meet ALL of those criteria, then you will only be effective as an PBAOE Rifter - and you can still be effective at that! Magus PBAOE DD is severely underrated.

Why, may I ask, would you want to be stationary for a 3.0 second cast, and 6.0 second channel ? That just gives your toon a giant beacon of (hey Witch Hunters come rip my ass to shreds).

Magus in t3 actually has amazing damage. The problem is cleanse nerfs it badly.

Amazing numbers on sc scoreboard? AOE stagger breaker spec?
Single target Magus specs focus on direct damage and don't lose much with cleansing.

tehe...amazing damage. This is how you differentiate a good player versus a bad one. A magus can hit over 150k in t2 constantly, that doesn't mean his damage was "amazing". But I'm sure Sulorie and I wouldn't know, we didn't play magi on live nor did we have r100 magi

It's my experience from playing against a few good ones in t3 back on live obviously at this point lotd stuff/bolster is in play so there's craziness abound for dps stats.

Nobody channels for 6 sec. Not on a magus and not on any other class with dd channel casts.

Well, some people indeed channel for 6 sec but those use aoe dots as well. ;^)

6 sec channel, you mean Indigo Fire Of Change? I used to channel for 6 sec The secret was to apply as much dots as possible on a target and then BOOM - huge burst, many healers weren't even able to react in time

Nothing sexier than a BoC + SVF + IFOC crit alllllllll at the same time with withering sooooooul on a target.

True issue is,that play magus needs more time and practice to master it. Most of players will just reroll to Sorc because off easy 4-5 button rotation and bigger numbers
Magus is great to force order healers focus on group heals and let single target dpsers make theyr kills easier. Magus/engie never was alpha dpser and killer. Theyr presence on battlefield was(should be) about change fight in theyr realm favour(aoe rezist debuff for sorces,aoe pull to theyr melee trains,ccs on theyr healers,stagger removal and realm healing/sadly allowed to engineer only/) just support dps class.

Ok so I've been playing magus today... After almost a year break. t1, 11 level but severly undergeared without any tals. Can't say I've been the first to get focused. In fact, I've played 5 scenes and died 0 times, always in the top-3 of scene damagers. Maybe you get focused because you jump into the middle of an enemy melee train and try to aoe them down?
