On Tuesday before the Event Lesti was on a reconnaissance mission in enemy territory and found a corpse of an unknown Thunderer. He promised his tortured soul that he would find peace in the earth of Ostland. But he would find this oath more than difficult to complete, but more on that later.
The Training of some new recruits began as usual on this 3rd Event.
New Tactics and deployment Order was confirmed by the regiment.
And for the regiment it was the first time they began to learn the song of
Dwarfs of Ekrund. the Anthem of the 3rd Bitterstone Thunderers.
After some drills we marched back into the warcamp to gear up, have a last pipe and swing the private hammer before the battle begins. But alas! In an instant a whole detachment of Slayers, Runepriests, Ironbreakers and even more Engineers wanted to join the Formation.
We were a full warband in an instant. Lesti declared in a very compressed way what this is all about and how deployment will work.
Mandreds Keep was under the Attack so the 3rd Bitterstone marched. The Foe was running against the Keeps doors and had them broken in already. Valiant defenders tried to hold them off.
Unfortunalely the time stood still when the Bitterstone arrived. The whole world turned into a flur of pictures with nothing happening in between. Order was lost and the Formation took some heavy beating from foes unseen.
But one after the next we shot the Foe down until they retreated.
And the Hymn of Bitterstone rang at Mandreds Keep from the throat of twenty dwarfs!
But then the strange thing happened! After the formation had consolidated itself and the last allies of the order had followed the fleeing destros into their warcamp the foe simply disappeared!
As the onslought of the foe never came the 3rd Bitterstone marched to Stonetroll Keep which was allready under assault from some Mombers of Order. With the help of the 3rd Bitterstone the Enemies where shot from the walls, the door breached and the Keep stormed in an instant.
After that the formation marched back to Mandreds Keep. Eager to fight again and bring their guns to their destiny.
But unfortunately the enemy was nowhere to be seen. So the Event ended in Front of Mandreds Keep with a group of victorious, but untested dwarfs.
Well, that sums it up. This time it was real strange. When the formation walked into the oRvR Area I saw the massive red dots on the radar and thought that this will be tough.
There were about 40 destros, our warband of 24 and at least another 20 Order Players in Mandreds Keep. The servers lag turned it into a powerpoint slide. With some of us dying in between. I already thought to regroup the formation a little bit to the back, but my commands came half a minute later, and the members of the regiment couldn't see me most of the time as my character disapeared.
So finally we break the destro attack and the lag turned back to normal. After our redeployment to the road between the destro warcamp and mandreds we awaited the counter attack, but that never came. And it didn't came later at the evening. And that was more then sad as I was already pumped up from the previous events video which showed some nice combat action.
I know that that singing of "Dwarfs of Ekrund!" of the regiment got a little out of hand. Next time I will enforce an rule that the dwarfs use their sing-macro only once a minute and not completely spam the say-channel. But I have really mixed feelings of how the regiment is recognized by order and destro players alike.
The formation is not unbeatable. In the beginning half of us where dead in the lagfight at the keep and also in the past a decend destro zerg in New Emskrank was also the death of the formation. So it is not really gamebreaking. A full guild warband with ventrillo and good healer assignment is 10 times deadlier than the 3rd Bitterstone Thunderers.
Can a destro player who was at the attack please tell me what happened after you have retreated to your warcamp?
