Iirc, both PQs and ToK require a lot of custom coding. I know that Carrie worked exclusively on ToK before someone had a bright idea to make her a lead dev. I mean she's an awesome programmer, but a horrible boss.

She was a "producer" with no coding knowledge at all:
Her "masterpiece" is this.

Keavan Freeman was the lead developer at the end of WAR:

There is a rumor, that he left the company after he worked for over 6 month on a free2play conversion for WAR and EA/mythic management pulped the idea after. At this point it was maybe also clear, that the GW license is lost.

Are you SURE, but 100% sure that she was nothing else? I could've sworn that she was the mind behind ToK(ok maybe she didn't code it, but thought of it?)...

Keaven? What became of him? He and Kai were such good lads. Too bad they got tangled in with what they did.

Keavan began to work for Carbine Studios/Wildstar after he quit mythic: http://keaven.com/2013/06/new-job-new-city/

Kai Schober is the german community manager in "Elder Scrolls Online" atm.

I recall some WAR players wrote to Games Workshop CEO in attempt to prevent shutdown. GW responded by stating they are not the ones shutting war down. They had 5 year contract with EA, when contract was up, EA decided not to renew. GW would have been fine with renewal of contract.

Somehow I don't think it wasn't just EA who killed WAR. At the time of shutdown Mythic was being transformed into mobile game dev studio (and eventually separated to form Broadsword ). I think Broadsword did not want to maintain WAR and pay royalties to GW.

Fascinating. I would never pay attention how something came to be, but rather what happened. Thanks for the added layer of info!

I think that everyone's guilty:

-> GW for being ironfisted
-> EA for being greedy
-> Mythic for being slackers
-> players for being sheep and believing every word Barnett ever said

Really, everyone's guilty to a degree. Funnily enough, the least responsible(for the shutdown) side wouldbe EA. And I wouldn't be surprised if the players were the most responsible. Funny.

Carrie was lead on the team behind the ToK. She didnt code it though just liaised with the other teams to put in counters and achievements as the game was developed. She isnt a programmer shes was originally from PR and games media. I remember reading blog posts during development about how she just fell into the job when doing a press event at mythic and someone offered her a job. She knew nothing about design or warhammer. Mythic has had a history of bad choice in management teams. They kept giving the reins to the PR guys and not the actual designers. It really only got better when Keaven took over who is an actual designer.

The people that **** the game were the developers.

Mark Jacobs only real genius at mythic. Couldn't manage just wanted to design game mechanics.
Rob Denton primary culprit. Et tu Brute'd Jacobs to get his job. What a ****.
Jeff Hickman saw the shitstorm coming and maneuver himself to be Dentons guy in the coup d'etat. **** #2.
Barnett mentally unstable.
Carrie why was she even there???

Thank you! THIS was what I was looking for. I KNEW for a fact that she was on a ToK team, but I didn't know her role. There were a lot of rumours on the BioMythicFail forums. Thanks Tel!

I know that she was a whiny "little" princess/diva and wanted to have an xbox and what not at her office. Needless to say, she didn't manage at all. Who gave her reins?

And I agree. Mythic did indeed have a history with bad appointments. Denton, Hickman, Barnett, Carrie, Andy(really you employed an unstable guy with an addiction? He was a WoW zombie for those of you that don't know) etc. Sometimes I ask myself "How much is the degree really worth?". To that I'd answer "enough so you can wipe your arse with it!". Really the experience taught me that it isn't the degree that matters, but the perspective. And as long as the degrees are what matters in this world...fails like Mythic's will continue to roll on until infinity.
