Whats a healer?
Warhammer Online

They're those classes that look like they're casting damaging spells and then somehow they top the renown charts! That doesn't show up on my parser!
You say that as though healers aren't an essential part of a warbands victory...tazdingo wrote: Tue Feb 26, 2019 4:10 pm they're what we used to call those squishy guys at the back before every class got turned into psuedo dps
op might be a trailing lunatic but i can't disagree with the main point that playing your archetype in pubs is a pointless task these days
ye which is why i think pure archetpyes need some love to promote healthy pub playUrdeg wrote: Tue Feb 26, 2019 4:22 pmYou say that as though healers aren't an essential part of a warbands victory...tazdingo wrote: Tue Feb 26, 2019 4:10 pm they're what we used to call those squishy guys at the back before every class got turned into psuedo dps

Supporting your team, and being the two most important archetypes in group/warband, is more than sufficient incentive for any player who is able to see past their own preferred (*selfish) playstyles. Unfortunately, the game is populated with people who want the game to become a singleplayer experience.tazdingo wrote: Tue Feb 26, 2019 4:37 pmye which is why i think pure archetpyes need some love to promote healthy pub playUrdeg wrote: Tue Feb 26, 2019 4:22 pmYou say that as though healers aren't an essential part of a warbands victory...tazdingo wrote: Tue Feb 26, 2019 4:10 pm they're what we used to call those squishy guys at the back before every class got turned into psuedo dps

note - i am NOT complaining about changes already made to classes. i am thrilled that sh/sw have their cool new specs, offtanks have a thousand more options, solo defensive mdps is getting more and more viable and that healers can do... well whatever it is they do when they're not healing me
i just hope that pure healers and shield tanks are next on the list for some love, cause everyone complains that they're aren't enough of either but there's no real incentive for people to play them when there's no new fun stuff to try out
people do have an incentive to do those things. pub play isn't a desire for a singleplayer experience - the experience is banding together with a bunch of randoms and seeing just how well you can work together on the fly, building a martial rapport over many months of fighting side by side even if you've never said a word to each other. it's a thing i've never experienced in any other gamepeterthepan3 wrote: Tue Feb 26, 2019 4:40 pm Supporting your team, and being the two most important archetypes in group/warband, is more than sufficient incentive for any player who is able to see past their own preferred (*selfish) playstyles. If being a rock upon which a group or fellowship can stand is not incentive enough, then perhaps we are doomed. Maybe our experiences differ, but being able to help a group out with guard swaps, challenge and CC is incredibly appealing to me (which is why I main tank for guild). I don't think I'm the only one with that mindset.tazdingo wrote: Tue Feb 26, 2019 4:47 pmpeople do have an incentive to do those things. pub play isn't a desire for a singleplayer experience - the experience is banding together with a bunch of randoms and seeing just how well you can work together on the fly, building a martial rapport over many months of fighting side by side even if you've never said a word to each other. it's a thing i've never experienced in any other gamepeterthepan3 wrote: Tue Feb 26, 2019 4:40 pm Supporting your team, and being the two most important archetypes in group/warband, is more than sufficient incentive for any player who is able to see past their own preferred (*selfish) playstyles. some of us just don't do the whole scheduled play or comms thing for a variety of reasons but still have a desire to play a team focused class. therein lies the challenge, and i think more people would take it up if these archetypes were given some interesting new things to try out rather than relying on the same old tools. nothing should be more effective than the tools that are already in place, htl, challenge and guard must never be superceded. just something.... different
all i'm saying is that the changes to bo/sm; group wounds buff, group shield - and to bg/ib; more support to protectee, were very popular and definitely led to a noticable increase in the amount of pub shield tanks. hell there was a veritable bgsplosion, they were everywhere, but nobody complained cause destro melee had a ton more guards been thrown around and order ranged had a heap of hp pools on legs to blow uppeterthepan3 wrote: Tue Feb 26, 2019 4:51 pm If being a rock upon which a group or fellowship can stand is not incentive enough, then perhaps we are doomed. Eh, not really. It is just a screenshot. I remember when people used to make fun of those who used SC screenshots to "prove" something, are those days gone now?
