Re: Decrease in Population?
Just for clarification, LoB never ran a proc group.peterthepan3 wrote:At least you aren't denying it. Fotm group doesn't equate to competitive pvp; proc setups had been dominant and fotm, but was that really competitive pvp? No, but reliance on inherent advantages to X setup to overcome enemies.
On live double mara/slayer was the norm. Given that class fluidity and viability is integral in RoR's intent and vision of pvp (dps wp changes, magus), it will be interesting to see how groups traditionally reliant on cheese setups to win (not individual talent) will do.

Re: Decrease in Population?
Why is there a drop off? Just a few ideas from my perspective;
There are a lot of similarities in MMO's to real life. Mainly, the mmo player will play the way they live RL. It is natural for human beings to seek the easiest road. It is natural for human beings to seek an advantage over their opponents. The devs make it harder and harder to find these advantages.
People are tired of 8 hour long fights in one zone. And these tend to happen at least once a weekend. Weekends are the days where most people log in, and they will play for 8 to ten hours ... and get nothing.
Yes, WAR is a PvP oriented MMO, where fighting each other is the main point of playing. But the original devs understood that humans get bored easy. This is why so many rush to get out of t1. Fighting in one zone for hours on end is counter productive. For 8 hrs game play, people expect at least to take 3 zones if not more. When city sieges open up, no one is going to waste 8 to 10 hours of their day, to lock one pairing, only to log out, have another group of people lock the second pairing and go to city. Very few people have time to play 16 to 24 hour marathons.
And no, fighting just to fight, does not work. It is boring. How many times an hour can you stand to see "This player has been killed recently" messages? Sure, some of you do not care. As long as you kill something you are happy. Well, most of us want something more tangible!
Keep sieges; Unless you are ranged or heal, are the most boring part of this game.
A- If you are defending you can no longer try to kill the ram by sortie. Sure you can use the posterns, but in some keeps the posterns are opposite ends of the main gate. The zones and the keeps are not designed for this type of game play.
A WB of lowbies is not going to sortie out to run around a keep and get no where near the ram. Not going to happen, sorry. And ranged dps can not harm the ram.
Suicide squads work, (where you drop down from outer wall, hit ram till you are dead, respawn and do it again) but only while outer is still up.
This leaves only one option to successfully defend. Hold the Lord's Room. Period!
B- If you are attacking, unless you have a chance to get on the ram, you are useless. You don't do anything till inner comes down. And no, people will not leave the keep to go run supplies. Running supplies does not get you participation towards a bag, and Genesis Gear is still the most sought after part of this game.
Suggestions;
1- Make it so if the friendly keep drops to rank 0 while you are attacking, the ram is automatically destroyed. It disappears. Gone! Disabling would be nicer, but this could lead to a lot of bugs from a keep falling to 0 rank then back to rank 1.
This will insure that the supply system created by the devs becomes more important. Attackers will need to keep their keep at a minimum of rank 1.
...or ...
2- Allow defending ranged to target the ram with all their abilities like back on live. And attacking ranged to target oil with all of their abilities, like back on live. More important, just like on live, allow repair of ram and oil.
This option will (a) allow more players to participate in a keep take, (b) create quicker keep takes.
... or ...
3- Allow sorties in and out the main door doors again, like it was.

Don't underestimate the reopening of Uthgard, I know people who went back playing Daoc and are happy with it (I was happey there too, but too much work to restart everything now).
Back to RoR, I must say I'm having fun soloing with WH, with some degrees of success. You die a lot, and get really pissed off by entire warbands stomping you (and often following for half map) and spamming emotes, but it's alright. I know it's a group game, but don't disrespect or ignore soloers: there are many on RoR, and they've been always many on live

So true. Literally the mind boggles when a wb chases 2-6 players across a map (looking at you, Avocetti!)kryss wrote:Don't underestimate the reopening of Uthgard, I know people who went back playing Daoc and are happy with it (I was happey there too, but too much work to restart everything now).

Re: Decrease in Population?
You have yet to reconsecrate the Bastion of Sigmar's Holy , center Cult , and remove the **** Skaven to the SewersWhile it is true that a certain portion of the playerbase has moved to inactivity , this relaxed , rather calm state of the server , gives us a good amount of time to explore the , AWESOME , PvEnviroment , gain the new ToK unlocks , travel , hoard **** gold and items = gold ^^ , new scenarios , but above all , host a gratifying new
RP event , Ladies and Gentlemen , please say hello to the End Times chief schemer , our furry little frenemies , the good old Skaven scum.
Τalabecland has seen some rather curious new additions , a great pq in Praag ( it was the first interactive RP event , Order had managed to host .) Involving Grandfater Nurgle and the , then , Horned Rat . A Skaventide , or rather Vermintide could be an excellent rufurbised addition to our game , appart from simple tokens ( this time Lorewise ) players could be rewarded with , warpstone ( Heresy ) , as means to , token consuming a slighty better formation of Weapons , the gear is fine.

Re: Decrease in Population?
I think the 6v6 scene has nothing to do with the servers general population. The lack of content other that RvR/SC atm is what i think is turning most people off, this is an MMO with more types of gameplay than PvP originally, i myself always enjoyed a ToVL run or going back to lower dungeons just for fun.
Agreed very much with Morf post about the 1 zone being active, most days of RvR end up in KV(a zone that should be avoided if numbers are equal in T4).
And no, the 6v6 did not die in June. Their has been a ton of good 6v6 fights including an event. Just beacuse they were not streamed/youtube doesnt mean they did not happen xd

Re: Decrease in Population?
event that was able to get only 3 guilds, lets face after enigma, Kappapride, CA and now Fusion disband the 6x6 scene is pretty much dead, the competitive scene is not even close to what it used to be when these guilds were still playing on the server, i remember we dont had so many changes on RvR/classes and i think that affected both rvr and competitive scene.simtex wrote:

Re: Decrease in Population?
Game as beeing said has become stagnant. Lack of content like Lotd/Tovl/Tombs/Dunegons is reducing activity only to RvR/SCS. And for me RvR is totally unplayable becouse of mass crashes at keeps/zergy server mentality/only one long zone fight at a time. SCs are not enough to keep me plaing regular. 90% of ppl i played with is already gone, not much left for me in this game atm. But sentiment still wins sometimes.

Yet , thankfully , the 6VS6 scene of strategy has understood that their functionality on captured Bos is VERY rewarding.simtex wrote:I think the 6v6 scene has nothing to do with the servers general population.
