Re: Russian Gms
It's a typical "I-don't-give-a-****-about-this-game-and-it's-commnunity - behavior."Sigimund wrote:Chrome is translating all the Russian in this thread for me. Is this typical behavior?

Re: Russian Gms
So far this thread shows that there are two retarded trolls even in this thread and one of them even want to be GM.
My best bet will be on man from Europe who know russian language, since its hard to find neutral man who don't give a damn. Many people are passionate about their games.

Re: Russian Gms
I think it'd be great to get a few people in the community who do speak Russian and are deemed by the staff "good people" to maybe do some things like a GM so to speak. I think a lot of the GM's were picked for certain reasons. I don't want to say that we need a dev for every language, but if certain people don't want to learn English or even some basics, I'm assuming that most likely they won't learn english.
2 Options
1. Give them a Russian GM and they will be happy.
2. Say... No other languages have requested particular GM's of their nationality based on their inability or not wanting to learn to speak the language the Devs of this game use.
I took french for 5 years. I once was nearly fluent as my mom taught it while I was growing up. In ten years I had nearly forgotten all of the conjugations and different tenses but if I see a french person I can easily ask where to go, how he is doing, is she single? Kididng.. but basic phrases go a long way.
Girlfriend is Persian, took me a month listening to 30 minute audio tapes to pick up basic Farsi and I can easily have a very basic conversation, obviously the nouns are what take the most work, but it's not like I'd need to know that many for RoR. Directional call outs obviously being the most important.
Point is, sure I've been to college, post graduate programs... but I really think anyone can pick up some english if they want to. I mean Russians have such a cool freaking accent when they speak english, easily the most amazing foreign exchange student I ever met Anzhelika! oh my word.. I digress, I would be happy to spend time with any Russians who are wanting to learn basic english as I have found that my slight southern draw is very very easy to understand.
So rather than causing more separation (their own channel/gm) why not help them learn some english? If this was a Russian game then sure, I'd learn how to type in characters that show us up XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX's on my screen. But this is just me thinking in a way that not only promotes education (enter productive thumbs up meme) but also one that would probably go over the best. You'd be very surprised how many people are willing to help when things like this happen. Sure there are some Dbags here, but easily 90+% of the population here are down to earth very cool individuals.

Re: Russian Gms
I don't understand:
* this is not a Russian server. It's an INTERNATIONAL server, therefore it makes sense to adopt a language that is: a) known to most; b) relatively easy to pick up.
* Russians complain about being ostricised by the rest of the community, yet this thread petitions for separate russian GMs? What about the French? Germans? Scandinavians? Portuguese? They don't ask, because they actually make an effort to integrate (that's why you see 1000s of russian-only guilds, yet only a handful of other nationalities doing the same thing)
This server is the only warhammer online server there is. Make an effort to integrate. We have french and austrians in our guild who know a few words of English, yet always make an effort to communicate and practice it.

there's
only
a
bazillion
Russian
guilds
and
not
any
bunches of other nationalities
I just don't see how having a Russian-speaking GM can negatively impact non-Russians. I'm all for this idea.
