Perhaps we can make a special appearance off-hand that only has the -appearance- of a shield, who knows.

I think at one point in development there was a lot more freedom or at least uncertainty in what weapons should be used by which careers. SMs with dual swords. WPs with dual hammers or shields. Engineers with 2H spanners or dual pistols, with models still in the game files. WL 1H axes too?
Shields would do a lot for melee healing WPs but it would be gamebreaking on non-melee specs and the only sure way to prevent that is to keep them exclusive to tanks. Unlocking DW (and 2H for some) could give some interesting diversity and personalisation options to melee classes.
Do any of the devs know if the game mechanics or animations could accommodate a dual pistol engineer?

Careers pull animations from whatever animation set is most compatible with the weapons they're using. White Lions using dual wield inherit the DoK's dual wield animations because they're both Elven classes, for example.
A combination which was not represented in live Warhammer may not work, though.

Most likely dual wielding WP would use those of the WH. Even the idea of 2h DoK saddens me, but oh well

Hmmmmm I think this topic created some thoughts for you all. well I realize my wish will properly not happend for various reason (wich I accept) but glad to see that there was alot of other good idears and thinking. Hope RoR will develop beyond Warhammer online

It would seem myself and the wife found one.....

Yeah they where implented all over War but WP never got acces to this awsome appearence, sometimes the lore with Warhammer and War online just does not make sence.
