Tried to change date, to download the launcher from "Yali's game folder files" (from the home page of ths site). Nothing works.

Has anyone tried the cmd prompt to fix the issue?

had same problem some mins ago; logged out from windows; relogged in; connection problem's gone, maybe it's just a coincidence.

New launcher which was working fine last few days updated again tonight when i logged in and now the login server is unavailable as far as it is concerned at 21:53GMT.

"Could not connect to Login server"

Still have the same message after 2 pc restarts. . . d'ont know what to do ?

hmmm looks like the login server was down, or was taken down as it now appears up but account not active message so I would guess it either crashed or was rebooted and is in the process of coming up.

Here are the steps that got me working tonight. (before the server went down ~1700 EST)

1/Jul - Yesterday I was playing just fine after I patched the new client and re-ran the new launcher and updater twice as recommended.

Issue:
2/Jul - Today, the launcher, after login, goes directly to a black screen (fails to reach character screen).

Solution:
Re-ran RoRUpdater, then relaunched launcher, Everything looks good now and im playing just fine.


Comments with regards to malware:
I'm a Network Penetration Engineer IRL. Any unlisted client executable that can open a communication socket or similar pattern will be flagged by any good A/V or Malware heuristics engine as malicious. It doesnt mean its actually malicious. Can you trust RoR? Well thats up to you. I do, but in doing so knowing that nothing is for certain short of viewing the source code or decompiling the binaries myself.

I will say this: if the devs here wanted to exploit you, they would have compromised you long ago (at package inception) and have done it in a way that would have easily not triggered any heuristics at all. They also would not have spent countless hours fixing, banning players, exploits, addressing general asshatery and incurred so much pain to bring you something that they love and play themselves.

So keep playing RoR and know that this is the last thing you should be worried about. <cough> Microsoft </cough>
