I gave gork smash, NIDF and YMM a go last night in scenarios. As usual we were seriously lacking healing, but it wasn't just that. Sometimes we had one really solid healer but it never seemed enough. Moving guard, challenging, snaring and knocking melee, NIDF healers. Nothing seemed to push us towards a victory.
I tried running full damage tactics with gork smash, SYG, loudmouth and Ave another one... but my damage was still quite pitiful. YMM makes me almost immortal but I'm starting to feel more and more dependent on three hit combo. It feels kinda useless without it. Any amount of knock downs, silences, punts and NIDF was not enough to put a dent in the order melee train last night.
Strangely, even with insanely low damage, I still came second or third damage on our team in some scenarios. I assume this is largely because I usually don't get focused when people realise I have YMM. I really don't want to give up YMM because of how amazing it is for holding chokes in oRvR. I love that shield-wall tank feeling. That's like 90% of the reason I'm playing a tank. I just feel so useless in scenarios without three hit combo. Against proper DPS players, most of which seemed to be on order last night, I can barely scrape 10% of the damage done of a proper DPS.
I hate constantly blaming lost scenarios on others. I always want to find more and better ways to contribute to scenarios but I really don't want to lose YMM either. I can hold front lines and soak damage and do a few big crits with smash and SYG, but the moment I get ignored, guard just doesn't seem enough to keep the squishies alive even with challenge cooldown management. Those white lions and slayers just leap on our healers and explode them through challenge and guard.
