If a granted level 40 ability is only worth it in a situation that he class neither excels in nor tha the devs want to consider balance for
Is that alone not sufficent justification for change? None of he other mdps or tank 40 abilites are niche/only good for solo roam

It should work on all direct damage abilities, iirc - I haven't roamed in t4 RoR yet in a manner that'd cover it, as I am no maschoist, hence it doesn't see any use from me...its just not worth the gcd outside of roaming, even then bleh. From my tests it also doesn't work if incoming attack was parried
And internal cooldown works per proc, rather than per target (in other words: you deal damage to only one target a second regardless of how many enemies attack you)
Unless these two issues are fixed ability will remain borderline useless IMO
What do you think about adding some parry/dodge/disrupt bonus when channeling this ability?

It doesn't work vs ranged attacks, you don't need to test it Darosh.

It is solely "defensive" ability even without any ...
My point was you die while doing some 100% irrelevant nonbursty damage spread out on those that kill you.
Adding avoidance... I think it is the wrong ability (think fixing core toughness buff should have prio)
(Sry channeled reflect.... I don't think I'll use it ever in any form.)

But it should, as it did on Live ~ the stock tooltip supports that, too. It doesn't specify a type of attack, just 'attacks'.
So, the RoR implementation is a tad wonky all things considered.
Abbd.: Knowing how things are handeled here in regards to claims "it worked like x on live", I'll try to dig up footage.

Well, certain abilities have certain niches ~ making every ability work in every circumstance is contraproductive, imho.
But at this point I am more interested in the above, moreso than any change.

That damage will be irrelevant and nonbursty regardless if this skill is channeled or timed buff
Stop looking at the damage and think of the ways to convince enemies to stop hitting you while channeling this skill

I already tried digging up the footage from live servers, yet no slayers used that ability ever. One that I had is from my old duel fights and it indeed worked, but vs ranged attack of a dok, but it was considered melee attack (parryable).
Although deep in my mind I remember utilising it in duels against SHs and it was proccing from ranged attacks, here it isn't implemented that way.

Yup, tried digging up something this evening for a few hours. It doesn't help that the whole pewpew-montage culture wasn't as much of a thing back in the day, so the footage is not only limited by the rare usage of this ability, but by the fact that there are only a few videos to begin with - most of which are either privatized (for whatever bloody reason), copyright-struck or have since been deleted.
I think before ability receives any love, the whole implementation thing should be looked into. If it stays as is, yeah... do all the fancy stuff with it, idc. If it gets changed to the live implementation I'd strongly vouch against tampering with it, as it'd then have its proper, albeit niche* use.
Abbd.: *To give an example for my reasoning: Fierceness, the initiative debuff is so incredible crippling that this ability strictly never sees any use in proper play (groupplay) or soloroam, as pushing your own ctbc to and beyond the 40% treshold is just straight up retarded - especially if its for a mere 100-111ish or so WS. In other words, niche use > no use.

I remember it as if it was yesterday, on russian servers one of the first few fort sieges, in the zone after Caledor, 4-5 slayers run into the Pit of Shades cast by destro sorc and pop Retribution - sorc got reflect oneshoted.
It worked on all damage and did almost as much as a regular melee hit up until the patch, that nerfed slayer aoe damage by 20%~, swapped aoe stun from M2 to M4 in the 3rd tree, etc.

I read, read and still not sure what your idea is.
If you do not give them protection from distance attacks then there will be dead classes that do not make sense to play.
The argument that if you have guard and a healler then this is not needed in team playing is wrong because players are not interested in 6 v 6 only they want to make a better farm PUG in 6 people organized group. What proved peterhepan3 perfectly. It's worth thinking about.
Time is running out and the server population has dropped by about 50%.
