Hey GMs,what did you do with engineers???....

You have to build your group(s) to be in support of the class. You can't build your group around the kiting meta with these classes. You can but you'd be better off with a different class if you do. You have to use static game in order for them to shine which means letting players outrun you prior to this change. Engineer's/Magus due to their stationary mechanic are more objective based. They are good at claiming positions and denial. They are more objective based pvp. I've mention before about static game in a different thread. Static game never really took off. I've done it but most have not or know about it. Its about claiming a position and daring the opposition to try and move you. Unlike the BW or slayer the engineer is not affected by pressure in static game. He doesn't need to drop his damage output, only in rifleman spec or ST magus spec will his damage decrease mainly due to setbacks on incoming damage. If anything static game is more valid now then ever due to the increased damage potential and not the range increase.
By static dmg do you mean all their fluff dmg they get with their eaisly clense able dots?


Sorry but I'd rather take the word of an experienced magus like peterpans


Prior to this change magus played second fiddle to sorcs and were nothing more than glorified rift bots

I believe the "main" complaint is that the buff is quite powerful during keeps fights, but people are forgetting that both engines and magi ARE casters and should be significantly more powerful in keep fights. In open field you have the option of moving away, and fights are regularly not static, thus both eng/mag will not have x8 stack on a regular basis. If you're getting shot open field by an engie, then move away or break los? I don't agree or disagree with the change, I do think both classes would benefit from receiving utility buffs over damage buffs, but experimental changes like this should give Azarael a better idea of what the class lacks and needs in order to be more competitive. I don't see a problem with slightly reducing the range buff.

The less mobile classes in a game where the kitting meta rules...
And some of you want a range nerf?
Better erase both classes from the game tbh.
I just don't understand people trying to tell us that magus and engie were already good before the buff.
Ever tried one of these classes until T4? If that's not the case, please shut up.
Magus was a disaster before the buff. Now it is viable if you're careful.
Some players are better than others, that's not new.
Magus was not "difficult" before the buff. It was broken. Now it can more or less do the job as a RDPS if you're patient.

I followed the most posts/the discussions about the experimental changes (to both! carreers) Engi/Magi. I play an Engi myself and got to say, that the buff about dmg and range feels quit right and not overpowerd. I do agree with nearly most of the arguments that are presented by peterthepan3. It's all told about the conditions to receive 8x stacks and what to do to prevent that the Engi/Magi reach 8x.
I also agree that there is a problem with the gun-turrent. But this is not caused due the new experimental changes!
As Aza has suggested there will be diffrent effects on turrents/daemons in the future so there might will be only one turrent/daemon that will provide the rangebuff.
I would like to see those complainants would stay clam and accept the Engi/Magi as reasonable RDPS - as it should be.
You could die in an 6-7 sec rotaion from a BW/Sorc... from a SW/SH... an now it is possible that you could die in certain circumstances by an Engi/Magi rotation.

hehe true, was fun days...but ror seems to go in a diferent direction, maybe is the future of this type of games!!
Hope the "sanguish" legacy dont take control over the development, the 6v6 looby is strong ;p

To be fair the setting in which I conducted that static game group was with 2 engineers in a 12 man setting. So... it wasn't magus's although the same core concepts are the same on it due to the similarities of engineers/magus abilities. It would have to be conducted slightly different with magus's.

If you don't build your group around the magus/engineers and build for a static group your not going to get the most out of your magus/engineers due to the way their mechanic works.

If your trying to force your way into the kiting meta with engineers/magus's prior to the change you would always have better options and even now with the changes its still somewhat like that.

I could go into extreme detail on how I set up these groups if you want, I ran this group for years. I'd set up a different thread thou on just static game.
