X-Realming is Good for the game.
Re: X-Realming is Good for the game.
People talk about realm pride but on the other hand you rarely see anything worth to be proud of in your own faction. Usually your own team is your worst enemy, so how should I feel realm pride!?

Re: X-Realming is Good for the game.
I wonder how many people in this thread actually defend keep after keep when their realm is losing, and not log off or go pve, or go to Tier 2. There are documented replies constantly that lock out timers will not keep someone logged in to defend against your zerg, so you can have some cool RPG experience.
There are also lots of voices saying we will gladly play the losing realm, and with it farm AAO and win back the tide in due time. But lock out timer fans want to stop us from doing so. And the current RvR mechanics, keep the casuals on the losing side from having something else to do.
Warhammer RvR is constantly called 'the best' or at least 'great.' DAOC takes the crown for those that are old enough to have played it, but WAR was a success. Yet the RvR is different in RoR.
The ability for 1 realm to take lost keeps in other pairings was essential to the city siege mechanics, because the zerging faction had to have 2 pairings fully locked in order to open up a fortress. Playing in other pairings was one of the core reasons why WAR was a success. It had a lot of fun fights away from the doorhammer, and currently there is 0 opportunity to replicate it.
I think the biggest concern from you people, is you'll have 1 big realm in one pairing, and 1 smaller realm in another, both playing doorhammer. It happens, but eventually, there is always a clash, and sometimes those are the fights that can ignite a night-long all out war. I've seen it over and over in live. The losing faction, will slowly gain power. Premade guilds will sllowly make there way over and log over for the AAO. An hour or so goes by, and both armies are equal. And both armies naturally feel out their numbers constantly through reports and other mechancis (keep claim reporting numbers from guards.)
There are literally 1000 ways to improve the RvR. And the lockout timer my friends is the god damn last thing.

Re: X-Realming is Good for the game.
As long as doorhammer is working, people won't stop switching to the winning side. Even greatly reduced rewards for empty keeps, like we have in RoR, doesn't stop people.

IF THIS IS LITERALLY THE CASE. WHY NOT GIVE DOORHAMMER TO THE LOSING REALM ? If this is literally the case. What's it matter if people cross-realm, or you give them the option to go Doorhammer with their measily 1 warband?Sulorie wrote:As long as doorhammer is working, people won't stop switching to the winning side. By opening up pairings, at the least you are keeping people on 2 realms and not 1. And I can tell you, there will be increased RvR EVENTUALLY. These things work out.
The HUGE downfall of the 40+ servers that failed, has always remained that the RvR lakes are too small. The losing realm X goes to doorhammer or take some BO's in a quiet pairing. Guess what, the 10 man bomb group shows up and destroys all 40 pugs, and the 40 pugs log off.
it has ALWAYS been this issue. However, there were servers like mine on Phoenix Throne, and others, where you had enough GUILDS and GROUPS hunting the hunters. It's like other games where you have pirates, and then you have piriate-hunters. When you have 1 server, these things will even out. There will be enough players and guilds to have meaningful PvP in ALL pairings at the same time. Granted, sometimes it's just duo's or solo players fighting in a 3rd pairing. If Zerg X is in Elf, smaller zerg Y is in Empire, you will still have the random fighting in Dwarf.
I'm just saying, there are people who think they understand the minds of these so-called LOGGER OFFERS, or those that would X-REALM to the winning side, chances are they are the same people. And then you have people like me and others who live the dream and actively chase AAO and flip the script. It happens constantly, and it's why we are saying it. Like 2 nights ago Destro was zerg humping in Avelorn. I logged onto my rune priest and joined the war monkey group. We started farming constant kills in and out of the postern at Well of Qhaysh, farming 250%-200% AAO. next thing I know, Cerun and a group of Dragons of Eternity show up and our harrassment becomes an all out charge. With just 2 seperate groups coming together we wiped the entire zerg off the keep sending a bunch running. They didn't come back, and they didn't cross realm, they just logged.
You are gonna have people cross realm, but if not given that option, they will log or pve or go to T2. It's not like I'm giving an opinion here, it's something all of us die hards do on a daily basis. If your ever in a zerg and all of a sudden you got wiped somehow, it's because your realmmates cross realmed and rallied the underdog to fight. Not with word,s but by simply fighting back in an organized group. It takes literally so little effort to start the comeback. And most of the people that know what I'm saying stopped reading these stupid threads and make fun of me for even trying to make the casual players understand, but your getting the post either way. Enjoy.

@Mez: I don't vote against xrealming, because it sounds like you want to convince me.
I just say that only a reworked rvr system would solve the problems we have.
People think that xrealming causes imbalance and they are wrong, because it's just a symptom, not the root cause. Sadly it happens quite often that people can't properly name the real issue, only because its symptoms are more apparent.

Re: X-Realming is Good for the game.
And some of us are incredibly masochistic and would love to be able to defend a keep that I somehow managed to get into with a zerg prowling a zone. Take away the second ramp and we can do that against a greater number. Otherwise it is a quick death and trip back to the warcamp.
I do NOT play anything other than Order. I have never understood the point of X-realming in a game that supposedly engenders realm pride. But, I can understand the frustration when all you seem to be up against is a zerg and you can't even get into a group to do anything of use.
I do remember trying to get to keeps to help defend. Not easy to even make it there.
I guess, I don't care if I die. Makes no difference to me. If I get attacked by 3 plus people and I am solo, I just stand there and take it. Chances are good I won't even get anything off anyway, so I vote for the fast way to a flight master. And, if I am in the mood, I may just trot out there and do it all over again.

Re: X-Realming is Good for the game.
There really isn't a way to stop X-realming at this time. I play both Realms, but i usually play on who evers population is lower. I don't really enjoy riding the Zerg i like a challenge and i like the AAO.

Re: X-Realming is Good for the game.
I think that making keeps claimable and enabling upgrades like it was on live. ( Dont remember patch)
Would not only make keeps easier to defend it would also decrease inflation at the same time since those upgrades cost a lot of gold.
