Back when the server was smaller it was more popular, sometimes enemies would gather around and watch duels.

Last time I went to a warcamp and asked for a duel, the dude responded No, then 5 guys popped out and killed me. I learned my lesson.

Back when we had just t1 and more than half the server spent more time grinding level 10 green gear.

Great times indeed, we all wish to come back to them.

Not really.

I hear people complain about this strafe thing all the time, but I don't get it.

Of course I use strafe, who doesn't? but what is it about it that makes it a cheat??

When I do it it doesn't seem to cause the enemy to not be able to hit me or kill me etc. so i dont understand.

People like yourself who believe this isn't abuse are the reason it doesn't get fixed/changed, I play a Witch Elf pure melee dpser without my snare from throw weapon working the class is quite literally unplayable for me(I like to stab things in their backs) whether others see it that way is their own opinions, but to me this situation sucks.

Its more the JUMP while running away that is being abused this makes it so your target moves further and further away while you run in a straight line after them, the strafing side of this is just the player abusing the jumping/lag they will always be able to damage you but you cannot damage them (only with throw weapon spam for me... yay 20-40 damage per hit while I'm nuked to hell and back yay) !

This is why I cry for snare, throw weapon is laughable.

Since linking an article that may take time to read doesnt make people very fond of doing so, lets quote a relevant part:
David Sirlin wrote:Now, everyone begins as a poor player—it takes time to learn a game to get to a point where you know what you’re doing. There is the mistaken notion, though, that by merely continuing to play or “learn” the game, one can become a top player. In reality, the “scrub” has many more mental obstacles to overcome than anything actually going on during the game. The scrub has lost the game even before it starts. He’s lost the game even before deciding which game to play. His problem? He does not play to win.

The scrub would take great issue with this statement for he usually believes that he is playing to win, but he is bound up by an intricate construct of fictitious rules that prevents him from ever truly competing. These made-up rules vary from game to game, of course, but their character remains constant.

In Street Fighter, the scrub labels a wide variety of tactics and situations “cheap.” This “cheapness” is truly the mantra of the scrub. Performing a throw on someone is often called cheap. A throw is a special kind of move that grabs an opponent and damages him, even when the opponent is defending against all other kinds of attacks. The entire purpose of the throw is to be able to damage an opponent who sits and blocks and doesn’t attack. As far as the game is concerned, throwing is an integral part of the design—it’s meant to be there—yet the scrub has constructed his own set of principles in his mind that state he should be totally impervious to all attacks while blocking. The scrub thinks of blocking as a kind of magic shield that will protect him indefinitely. Why? Exploring the reasoning is futile since the notion is ridiculous from the start.

That is why they complain about it.

They are scrubs.

If I had to take a guess, I'd say it's keyboard turners upset they're not able to outkite people who strafe and mouse-turn. I've never heard of strafing and jumping together exaggerating the melee distance bug more than jumping alone. At least, not in any way that can't be attributed to latency. Ditto for strafe causing issues on its own.

It's a bit of an ivory-tower thing. If we had control over the client, I would just push to have A and D mapped to strafe by default for all new characters.

all we do in this game is run , loool , get in a group , and then start running from keep to keep and if there is a resistance , we keep on running again to other zone or just go back to camp and wait till the resistance cool off , or people just xrealm . i feel like playing a plateform game on my console , run to cap objectives (Mario bros anyone) , hahahahahha . CAN WE ASK FOR AN ARENA STYLE SC WHERE NOBODY WILL RUN AND WE LL KILL EACH OTHER LIKE GROWN MAN (6 VS 6 OF COURSE) ?
