This is a good analysis and what you are saying is absolutely true.Jaycub wrote:You are going to find tons of opposition to a MM/Ladder system for scenarios.
If you look at the history of games like CS and Dota, you will notice a lot of people stating that they very much preferred 1.6 and source or WC3 over the current renditions. And if you start to really read into why exactly it often boils down to (whether or not they want to admit it) match making being added and "ruining" the community.
What really happens is the focus of the game moves from a much more casual and fun atmosphere into a tryhard only super competitive atmosphere where the only thing that matters is winning and climbing the ladder/ranks. I personally like that atmosphere better, but a lot of people don't.
The problem with a game like WAR is scenarios aren't the sole focus of the game, and I believe if you added MMR/Ladder to scenarios ORvR would become the defacto "casual" mode of the game and most hardcore players would only worry about doing SC's and climbing ranks, I'm pretty sure that is what I would end up doing anyways. Only to help out in ORvR if a city push was at stake.
It would also put a huge amount of pressure on the devs to balance the game, because now that ranks are at stake people will que up with meta premades a lot more often to make sure that they win.
From another side, war is missing interest for hardcore players... This is what are saying many of my friends, that don't want to come to war just because of this.
RvR or scenario do not offer enough stability or challenge.

Haha, yes, this is exactly the problem : e-penis (in french : kikimeter)Foltestik wrote:its simpe if you wanna keep players you need to give them samething, same ladder or samething to measure E-penis is always good:)
and in normal war was like 3 6v6 scenario: Ethernal citadel, Ironclad and Gates of Ekrund was 6v6 too
edit:
and i think is good idea have samething for more competetiv players, pugs can always go oRvR to hide and create zerg and same small guild can enjoy 6v6 scenarios and ladders
Re: Scenarios, arena and ladder
The same for me but ladder will attract good (let's say competitive) players, that's the clue =DPersonally, i don't care much about ladder, but i'll be happy to see a 6 vs 6 scenario, especially Eternal Citadel.
