Would also like to go with the last option stated here. Since the implementation of the ability-rework-system (ARS) itself we've had thousands of issues (some yet to fix, some still unknown especially for PvE content) it feels to me like it was actually a big step back from the actual development of the server- resources put into something that has no really net worth for the quality of the game. I think what this project needed was a better refined content (especially for Orvr) rather than a massive ability rework. And the state of the game ever since the introduction of the ARS feels to me far more imbalanced than it was in the past decade of the game. Also I'd like to point out. I do feel that a majority of the population of the server played this game due to nostalgia. While even I was concerned in the past about various topic of balance - these were just a minor issue in the bigger picture not worth to implement a whole system that brought a lot of secondary issues with it and also took a heavy portion of development resources. Meanwhile you can see people are even debating on various topics here that "balance" needs to be based on the "main" content of the game labelled as Orvr (which still is missing core rework to be enjoyable outside of zergsurfing)- resulting in partially a big balance disparity in the remaining content of the game be in small scale or PvE.Hugatsaga wrote: Tue Jan 28, 2025 6:01 pmYes it's far from perfect but single community member doesn't have tools/reach to do much better. Don't think much can be done with survivor bias anyway and ingame poll that pops up during login would obviously reach more but that needs staff/dev to pull that off. You could make a case that even short term fluctuations of game pop don't tell the whole picture at this point since game could lose 100 players due bad patch but gain 200 at the same time due some big youtuber/streamer hyping the game up. Stopping to reflect time to time is good is all I'm saying I guess.tefnaht wrote: Tue Jan 28, 2025 5:44 pmIt's a tricky thing, some people don't visit forum, some people already gone(probably because of patches), some people missed previous state of balace... It's some kind of survivorship bias(logical error).Hugatsaga wrote: Tue Jan 28, 2025 3:09 pm
Don't hate the idea of gathering this kind of feedback from time to time, I think it's actually pretty good idea. As for the purpose of this particular initiative, if I had to guess, I'd say mr. Gravord is planning for comeback in balance team / lead dev prospect position and is gathering campaigning material.
If you want to know what is going on with GaaS project - you need raw statistics from server and person who can to analize it. In context of poll, what the amount of respec\reroll\drop game players after each patch? between patches? what DAU-WAU-MAU spread between classes in dynamics, clasterized by rr\equipment level? Numbers will be low, but still it would be "lesser bias" information.
That being said this poll could have included more options, for instance it doesn't let me vote my preferred option which would be something along the lines of "whole ability rework was trash and so was gcd increase".
Cant stand that the server is thriving with out your input and suggestions?Gravord wrote: Mon Jan 27, 2025 2:29 pm Hello
In December 2023, a major ability rework was finalized. Starting in January 2024, RoR entered extensive balancing period.
It seems like a good time to ask the community for their opinions on a full year of changes.
First balance patch starting tank focus phase: viewtopic.php?t=52335
Second patch: viewtopic.php?t=52372
Third patch: viewtopic.php?t=52494
After initial 3 patches balance group shrunk by one member and initial rapid progress stalled for a while, to be restarted from May.
Fourth patch: viewtopic.php?t=53038
Fifth patch, healer phase start: viewtopic.php?t=53335
Sixth patch: viewtopic.php?t=53721
Seventh patch: viewtopic.php?t=54273
List skips over target cap experiment and various bug fix patches.
Each voter can give at most 5 points to each patch with 35 points in total.
Rating is as follows:
0 - hate it
