I'm still struggling to understand how adding SC weapons managed to kill ORvR.

They're not even good...

We didn't tell anyone anything.

People farmed PvE because it was considered the most reliable way to get gear at the time. Very few people came to the forum after the change was announced to say "Please, don't remove drops from mobs, I love farming so much!" so I'm choosing to believe that means that the vast majority of people do not play a game with the intention of replicating the tedium of working.

I congratulate those who have the patience to tolerate doing work so that they can participate in an alpha (a concept unique to MMOs) rather than simply playing a game which either allows them to play without forcing them to jump through hoops, or works the progression into the actual game content.

Gear in PvE promotes botting

Pretty simple. You might as well give the gear out, because people are going to bot it. The PvE in RoR is so mind-numbingly dull that it can be botted. I don't understand why such a simple endeavour should be rewarded, and, indeed, I don't see why I should be expected to do something so boring if I want that gear. If you like it, fine, but those of us who don't should be allowed to bot it or have a massive advantage for RvRing for it.

I would not be surprised if a significant number of any people who object to PvE gear removal did so because they wanted to bot it.

No, we didn't ask anyone to dry hump anything

The gear drops from players. Not from keeps. Not from BOs. And it doesn't stop dropping just because people are playing scenarios.
and I agree

But, as it looks like right now, the low drop rate of blue and purple along with 12 to 24 people rolling on it, makes it even harder to get said gear.
The only time effective, cost effective (in coding if nothing else) way to fix it, is to return the blue and purple drops to PvE mobs.

Azarael wrote:Sigh. The loot rolling system is an utter waste of space unless it's respected, and for gear like this, it won't be. Therefore, we should remove the generic drops altogether and put the gear in vendors for a medallion cost. If people want drop-only gear, RvR sets can be used for that.

I've seen complaints that this game has become a grind, and the worst type of grind at that - a RNG grind. This thread, in combination with that, makes me think that it's about time this crap stopped.

And yes, the item in question was worthless. I believe it's Rank 3.
Hi, first message here. I play for almost 2 weeks as Panzerk a Black Orc, some may have encountered me.
When I arrived on the server the loot from mobs was just disabled, and I felt quite screwed up as I was unable to farm for BiS gear. As a new player I had no gold or no efficient way to get gold (aka farm and sell blues) to buy these items. The only way to get gear that other had farmed for weeks was to roll on warband with 20 people where most people roll on blue items whatever the item is.
Now we have the SC weapons, dedication is rewarded, it's a move in the right direction.
I hope to see more of this in the near future.

RNG drops should be in no way better than the end-game RvR items.
By end-game I mean BiS items like the SC weapons (even if they are not the very-BiS) that require a lot of dedication.
You should always be able to get BiS other than by praying RNG-gods.

I'm very happy to read your message Azareal because it's what I think for a few days.
It's full of wisdom and make me very confident for the future of the game. Thanks !

They are better than what most people have. they are slightly better than woe weapons, and worse than runescribed. Most people aren't going to have enough gold to purchase that rapier/sword or woe etc... and runescribed weapons are basically a legend on order. I haven't even seen one linked or on the AH except for that axe that sold for 500g the day it was put up.

I think you underestimate the level of autism a lot of people have, grinding nothing but sc's is currently the best thing you can do once you hit level 12 to get xp/rr and items. Aside from big keep defenses ORvR is very inefficient.
Spoiler:
Who needs FUN when you could be grinding for better gear? :^)

I guess the problem with ORvR is not solely linked to drop rate. Frequency of kills is not predictable, and indeed in mass engagements can be woeful. I played for about 4 or 5 hours with a few friends on my Shaman a few weeks ago and didn't actually see anything drop.

Gear is the only real progression in the game atm. PVE dungeon, Purple/Blue PvE-drops or SC-weapons from emblems just about anything that gives better gear in a controlled way outside the lake will empty the lake

In the same fashion adding some RS/Woe-loot to keep (lord?) would have all those players back in the lake faster then you can say "Nordenwatch". Currently doors and lord go down to easily though :)

Most players me included have never seen a rune scribed/woe weapon drop and cannot afford to buy one if it even comes up for sale so the only choice is the sc grind if you want somewhat a decent weapon(not complaining even tho i hate the grind).

I think most ppl are forgetting this is an alpha even tho we dont treat it like an alpha. Like has been said many times before once stuff is fully functioning we will no longer have to feel hard done by from rng or someone taking an item they cannot use. With all t2 zones we will get every slot apart from jewelry as bis items, how long this will take ? who knows but again this is an alpha so we will have to deal with things that aint fair and aint fully functioning.

In that case the unified currency should only come from killing other players not zerging empty keeps. Also before the change all existing currency should be purged.
