[DoK] Shield Spec Rend Soul Underperforming?

It's more viable now. But keep in mind the more dmg you do the more you will heal. So having offensive gear still has it's perk

I ran with 3/3 Dom/Merc, the 25G shield, 750 ish str, defensively RR, low crit.

On test dummies, TE was hitting and healing for about 20% more than an actual player in-game; however, on both players, pets, and NPCs, Rend Soul was very much underperforming. 4 heals of 400? On test dummy it was over 1100.

What Gives? I was running with a Chosen with spirit debuff, tried it on pets mainly, but also a few WL and WE. Not a very good result. Is something broken or am I missing something?

Dummy dont block, dont parry, dont have armor dont run from U, dont stun U when casted, dont punt U, dont reduce your str, dont use healdebuff and dumny dont kill U in one rotation like GOOD WH. That all from Me about mele heal.

True, test dummies do not have defensive stats nor do they have CC. That said, if I am hitting a player or pet, and doing damage, and getting heals, there was no CC or parry or block, ... only mitigation. I am not basing my theory that heals are weak compared to damage upon being CCd or Parried or blocked, rather upon actual hits and heals on pets, and non-tank classes. While I agree with your point, i.e. heals gained from damage on a test dummy are going to be higher, I disagree that they should be 74% less on a player/player pet.

Another Gem in the rough. Target selection in RvR is key. Rarely am I going to do anything except detaunt a WH and move on to another target. Attacking a cheese-spec riposet WH is bad advice.
