What killed WAR: AoR was devs by them selfs. They just stop work on game 6 months after release. They released Land of the dead and since than game went to maintance mode for some years. If they were working on it same as they did first 6 months, the game would be still alive with mutch more content.
Blame original dev team, not players using exploits.

Read any gaming forums and when war is mentioned balance and bomb groups is always the reason the majority left. You even see it on the war blogs not long after launch how defensive they are over class balance. They just couldn't accept their grand non-mirrors just didn't work and half the classes were rushed or held back. War needed at least another 6 months to sort out balance and they probably would have realised they needed to have proper mirrors.

Yep. Original dev team failed, not the comunity.

Now we have 2nd chance to make WAR best rvr PvP focused game ever made :-)

To be honest I have tried GW2, ESO, WoW and other F2P MMOs. None of them had so intence and funny RvR pvp content. Only ESO has also Siege engines, but other aspects of ESO sucks so much.

Balancing with mirrors is one of the worst ways to balance a multiplayer game, even if easiest. But we have what we have...

There was a time after the aoe nerf and the addition of the new sov without mdps health proc that if it had launched like that it probably would have been a success. The addition of rr100 and stat bloat messed it up again and was just a cash grab that killed any chance of a revival. For half a year or so it showed some signs of matching the games potential.

Perfect example that Dev attitude is what killed the game. They never ever listened to the player and abandoned the forums. Thinking they knew better than those actually playing as they told them over and over what the problems were. So everyone just said **** it and left as guilds abused bomb groups and left ghost servers. Even going so far as like Paul patronising the community.

Well, thats also true :-)

They expected to have 5 mil subs as WoW had, and when WAR didnt fill they epectations, they let it die.

Reason why I never ever buy anything what have EA logo on the box.

You hurt not EA itself, but dev's who they own.

Thats fine. The talent in those devs just leaves and joins other firms with more creative freedom or set up their own studios. Look at the Banner Saga. The BW devs would never have been able to create a niche game like that under EA. It also allows smaller more ethical publishers like Versus Evil to have new talented studios to publish for.

EA just tie up all that talent on massive derivative titles and give no creative freedom.
