Surely that would also be an option and probably not too radically difficult to program5
Twinks killed lower tiers when the book was added. Was fine for those with rr100 and tons of money, consumables and gear. For new players or casuals it was an absolute nightmare.

Game is balanced to 40 allowing people to stay in lower tiers on archmages and squig herders. No thanks.

The deluded fool Barnett. Funny reading the old posts on his videos from 5+ years ago. All the BW hate. Never has a single class made so many people quit a game.

Good points raised on collision detection. After official servers went offline for good I heard this mentioned as a constant headache for any MMO to implement in a suitable manner. Another problem is the growing number of players from all over the world playing atm. Don't get me wrong it's a nice change in it's own way but presents new challenges that other MMO's in development face - latency bugs and the adverse affect they have on further development and overall player experience. No game I know of, and not necessary MMO's, have managed to balance this problem sufficiently even with all the resources available to them. The only real solution is server's for various regions such as NA/EU, this in itself leaves a gap in service for Australians and people in the very far east, and means another US based devs team would have to take up the reins and responsibility of another server. Yep, it's a real conundrum with no easy fixes.

Either way I would still be content to wander around the Warhammer universe no matter how laggy and buggy, the game doesn't have to perfectly match the performance of the original for me. That's just my opinion, other people may see it differently, or have higher expectations of course.

Without collision detection this game is not WAR.

Programmer here.
What I think makes Warhammer WAR are the class designs and the fact its one of the best PVP/RVR MMO's to be released. It is unique so many ways. I think collision was a great idea in theory, but it should have only existed on the tank class and only against enemy players. :D

I can't wait to see the 100% abilites working, yeah!!

I don't think you actually read my entire post if you came away from it with that. You also probably don't work in the computer games industry and therefore don't understand the impact player collision has on server client latency. Bottom line, IF it happens. Watch and see.
Sure it has a big impact on performance and other MMOs skip it to get a higher performance but it is one key factor for proper rvr. I'd take the risk of lags over collision-removal any time.

I disagree. Money was only useful if you wanted to twink yourself for T1 (buying lvl 10- gear that no longer dropped and therefore was really expensive). With the book, non-rich players were able to stop at lvl 15 and twink themselves by farming T2 zones, in the end having much better characters than rich lvl 10 endless-trial twinks.

However, this didn't happen that much; most people twinked in T3. And pretty much everyone was able to farm LotD for weapons and a backpiece+jewel combo. Not to mention many people stayed there until at least rr70 (Worn Sov) therefore entering T4 being competitive and not just cannon fodder for all the 90+ "pros".

TL;DR: The book was awesome for new players.

Grolar is right though. They took too long to remove friendly collision. The awful server performance in the first year had already caused a ton of people to leave. Collisions ok for mobas and scenarios but in large scale it needs to be off especially friendly collision.

There were tons of archmages and squig herders that just stayed in t3 forever. Farmed for bugged souls had tons of high level consumables bought with gold from their rr100 and had a ridiculous advantage over new players.

I dont mind slower leveling like at launch so people actually have time to gear. But staying forever with bis gear in lower tiers. Thats just aimed at twink trolls.
