This. Tanks giving out aoe immunities is one of the biggest l2p issues I see on both sides, whether it be blorc/sm aoe punting people, or all tanks using their aoe root before enemies blow their defensives or escapes, thereby ensuring they will get away.Toldavf wrote:That's the difference between good people chasing and bad. You have no doubt seen all the tanks that use their root like its the best anti kiting tool going? Well actually the opposite is true kiters are reliant on bad tanks to give them the immunities they need so they can keep running. How many times do you ever see these kiting groups meeting a champions challenge (the best anti kiting tool out there) pretty much never.Martok wrote:But is there no accompanying lost of action points while using this ability? The problem is certain SH's being able to move faster on foot than you can mounted while simultaneously maintaining constant damage output.Knightningale wrote:You may also need to consider the fact that....SH actually has an active ability called runaway in addition to the runaway tactic which can be passively activated.
And really, when it takes an entire warband to run down and kill one SH, you know there is a problem.
The fact is that players will pop an ability with no thought about what comes next and THAT is the problem not the squig herder.

The problem with champions challenge as it applies to SH's is between the time you activate the ability and it actually takes effect the SH may be rooted but has moved out of melee range. Which means all you have done is made yourself a frozen target. The SW or Slayer (at least I think it is from a Slayer, never played one) knock-down ability is the only way to close the gap. SM Aethyric Grasp is a joke and always has been, and I rarely if ever use it because all it actually accomplishes is granting an immunity to every enemy character within thirty feet.Toldavf wrote:Martok wrote:That's the difference between good people chasing and bad. But in regard to the speed issue, it isn't just the goblin class. There are Sorcs out there able to move at least as fast as any SH while still using abilities and dealing damage.

The point of champs challenge is to root them in place for your group to kill them. If you're trying to solo kill a squig as a tank, then you're gonna have a hard time unless you get the jump on em or they are bad.
As to claims of sorcs allegedly moving as fast as squigs: prove it. I don't necessarily doubt that people are cheating, but you need more proof than simple hearsay. I've never seen a sorc moving faster than normal, but if you had a video of it, I'm sure the gms would look into it.

Killing people is a group activity. Even if you as a tank are frozen out of range doesn't mean your dps are and they are much more likely to score a kill then you.Martok wrote:The problem with champions challenge as it applies to SH's is between the time you activate the ability and it actually takes effect the SH may be rooted but has moved out of melee range. ye but speed proc on itiems make certain classes like bw/am and their destru coutner part too hard to kill, those itiem would require a heavy nerf, same goes for sh/am staff the reduces cast tiem by half they are really over the top, the speed proc on itiems fell too much as an odjira.Toldavf wrote:Killing people is a group activity. I have watched people chase teefz and his group beyond all reason. Like, it's clear that the whole warband is getting strung out and killed 1 by 1, and yet they keep doing it. Makes me wag my beard in shame.
Then again, before the fall damage fix, we once killed teefz and his group by dropping a warband on their heads when we all jumped off the top of thunder mountain. So there's a solution: they can't run if you air drop on em
