WoW small scale is much better than WAR. No need for euphemism. Arena are a great design for Instanced PvP with much higher skillcap than WAR.

Where it fails in my mind is the total absence of any open PvP (except killing PvE people in the zones/griefing lower players...) and the lack of proper PvP tanks. If it had that, it would be the greatest. Sadly their implementation of ''an open PVP zone'' in WoD was a total disaster.

Been playing GW2 and Wildstar again, I've honestly missed them a lot, still wish the server could come back up again so I can have all three of my favorite MMO's. Still being patient though, the devs are working their butts off and I appreciate that, considering they're doing this for free.

So true. One of the biggest mehhhhs for me in WoW pvp was the lack of a role for tanks in PvP/no real world PvP.

True is, that WHO:AoR and now WHO:RoR has never been beaten in terms of mass pvp combat in RvR campaign. I have tried GW II, ESO and others, but Warhammer is Warhammer. Now when I am fresh proud father of our son, I have minimum time to play, but I check RoR page nearly every day to see if there is any progres. When I have some time to play, I play Grim dawn(ARPG) which I think is the best arpg game since Diablo 2: LoD.

WAR will always be my favorite PvP game, simply because of the class engineering. The Role structure is quite unique. ORvR can be exceptionally fun, it can also be the worst part about this game. The love, care, attention, and Lore that was involved in the creation of the Classes helps to make WAR a truly special game. Not to mention the absurd amount of places you can go visit in the warhammer world.

Overall, I love that you actually feel like you are in an extended conflict at times. Where your successes or failures kinda sorta matter in the grand scheme of things. Now, no one "likes" the ragers, but I do enjoy seeing people care THAT MUCH about capping the zone for their realm.

In terms of overall PvP and in particular Combat mechanics, I prefered AoC. Take away the buggy, laggy, floppy donkey **** that was it's release, the game turned into something pretty amazing at times. Pity everyone had already left... Ofc, AoC is still running...

I never played WoW. I had a roomate that did, and I watched him play for about 20min, and knew it wasn't for me. I've yet to see anything that makes me feel otherwise.

I recently re-downloaded WOW, but today I sold everything, gave away 50k+ gold, deleted all toons, and uninstalled battle.net.

The only games I have been playing lately are GW2 and Day Z.

I have gotten so much work done these last two weeks.

These are what I've been filling my time with.

Warframe: Free to play third person sci-fi action game with a lot of RPG elements. Looks beautiful, has fantastically good combat,Co-op and PvP, space ship and underwater modes (not just planetary combat), lots of mini games, cool lore. No real pay to win aspects, mostly cosmetics and time savers.

Grim Dawn and Path of Exile: Fantastic homages to Diablo 1/2 in their own unique ways. Grim Dawn is a post apocalyptic (very steampunk with magic) romp through a war ravaged land with some pretty awesome skill and class combinations and is a purchase to play game. Path of Exile is free to play with cosmetics for purchase, and has one of the most in depth skill and passive customization systems I've seen in an action rpg. If you love that old school action RPG feel, you can't go wrong with either imo.

Tree of Saviour: An isometric action rpg mmo, originally from Korea. It looks pretty, reminds me of the original Ragnarok online. Lots of classes and skills that can be combined to make some cool toons. Feels grindy, but sometimes I like that.

Spellweaver: Like TCGs a little more complex that Hearthstone, but without all the baggage that Magic: The Lathering has? This is your game. Plays A LOT like MTG, but is superior to MODO and the Duels of the Planewalkers games that WotC keeps paying some company to **** out. Good community, great game mechanics, fantastic art, and reasonable free to play model (way too generous on the devs side imo, I want them to actually make money so they continue making more content!)

Hyper Light Drifter: Imagine if Dark Souls and Zelda had a baby and then sent it into the future. You'd have this game. Atmospheric smooth 8-bit action with RPG elements and a really cool story that has no text or dialogue. The music and the cutscenes create a fantastic mood and manage to draw you in to find the next key, item, or powerup while you explore an alien world.

Black Desert Online: Very different take on the MMO genre, I like this game a lot. Skill based combat, PvP, interesting crafting and economic systems. The only reason I'm not playing this drop dead gorgeous gem is that it's pretty demanding on my rig. May be a bit too anime/eastern for some.

Ori and the Blind Forest: Probably the best Metroidvania released in the last couple of years, alongside Axiom Verge. While Axiom Verge is an 8-bit homage, Ori is a work of modern video game art. This game is hand drawn beautiful and looks silky smooth. It's like you're playing a Studio Ghibli or Disney cartoon. The gameplay is superb, the music well made, and the game oozes with the love and craftsmanship with which it was made.

Transformers - Devastation: A cel shaded throw back to G1 Transformers that plays like a big, dumb, after school cartoon. This game is made by Platinum, masters of third person action games. The game has a plot, but let's be real, it's only as good as the source material it draws from, which was made to sell awesome toys... it's not overly complex or artful, but it does move the game along. If you like beat'em ups with lots of customization options, a fun and rewarding combat system, and heaps of 80s nostalgia, pick this up (on sale only).
