backpaddling basically means moving backwards with "S". It is super slow and doesn't get you out of pressure. i recommend playing without "S" but that's a personal preference and a lot of people can't get used to it. but in all honesty, it is an incredible strong hotkey, wasting it for "move back" is simply not worth it. in the situations you need to move back (for example when stuck) you can use arrow down, works perfectly fine but mid combat it is just too slow to use it. Get proper mouse settings, do 180° turn arounds and get used to strafe kiting.
