Re: Changelog 14th May 2016
I don't care about wipes, but this recent patch has done something strange. RvR lakes feel empty, why? I kind of miss rewards from zone unlocks, even if people were locking empty pairings someyimes. Zone lock rewards caused both sides to fight intensively for control of a zone. Just something I noticed. Might be too soon to really say though.

First of all, I appreciate your hard work on this project, I really do. But that doesn't mean I have to agree with all decisions made. First of, in my first post I already said that I would rather seen you wait with releasing tier 4 to give you time to think better about the system and possible fix some bugs ahead of time. Second, keeping in mind that players will do anything for the quickest and easiest route to the best gear, you could have foreseen the two realms avoiding each other. Third, the gate health was fixed pretty quickly and adding siege + fixing Praag would have only made it easier to lock zones quickly and avoiding each other.Genisaurus wrote:It's very kind of you to explain for me that I did in fact know the system would be easily farmed. I was actually a bit confused about whether or not I knew that, so it's good to have some clarification.zumos2 wrote:That's not a reason to release a knowingly easily farmed rvr system and then piss people off by removing their gear. Of course we're also reporting bugs etcJoeMamAz wrote: The point of releasing tier 4 was to test bugs. They need people to test what they've been working on.
I mean, I'm sure you can understand my confusion! I know I had spent a week wrangling with the T3 code to try and make it apply to T4, and then given up and built something new from scratch. And I know I spent another week fixing real bugs in it, like keeps not becoming attackable, or keep lords not spawning. But I just couldn't remember realizing that...
Door damage reduction formula wasn't scaling for T4 levels of damage, so doors were breaking in literally 17 seconds. Or...
Siege weapons weren't actually working, because the area that was considered part of the keep was too small. Or...
Players would capture a zone and refuse to push onto the next, even though the rewards were better.
But I'm sure I must have realized those things, because possessing that a priori knowledge would be the only way that I would have known that the RvR system was easily farmable. What I just don't understand, is how it took me another week to fix all those issues if I knew about them ahead of time? I must not have my priorities straight or something.
Lastly I want to emphasize that this (any of my posts) is not in anyway meant personal. I know you spent so much of your free time into this project and me and all others really appreciate that. I do think it is important that I can give my opinion provided with arguments to rethink your decisions.

If that was the case then there would not have been any wipes. In reality there were barely any fights since taking empty zones was deemed more beneficialCzarRedwall wrote:I don't care about wipes, but this recent patch has done something strange. Hi,
not gonna complain but just saying that the wipe can be little bit unfair. In my case I dropped shoulder in keep, wiped, i would say its fair enough, because not totally deserved.
However I bought helmet wich was 50 medals and lost it too. Wich is little bit unfair as if i 'would have bought gloves for example it would not be lost...
Again, its not a complain, and to be honnest we talk about this situation where ppl are rushing zone without fighting and i said in guild wb (true story) "we should not be able to get chest if the keep is not defended".
So thx for the patch its gonna be great with more fighting now. I said bye bye to my helm with super good talis but hey, i'll do it again, and again if i must !

I didn't lose much myself and I'm not bleating about how much I've lost. I'm giving my opinion on the decision of the RoR team with solid arguments. Yes you covered yourselves by saying that there will be wipes. That doesn't take away the fact that there should still be a very good reason to do so. In my opinion that was not the case here as you do not solve much at all with this wipe. As I said before, this might delay players getting the gear by 1, maximum 2 weeks. That for me is definitely not worth wiping the gear and demoralising/pissing players off. Beside the fact that annihilator gear was already about equally hard, or even the hardest to get comparing to Mercenary and Ruin gear.Azarael wrote: You made the decision to play hardcore during a period of upheaval, the release of Tier 4, and explicit warning of wipes. You, he and many others possess the intellect to know when something is too easy or too fast, and you decided, in spite of that knowledge and the warnings, you'd farm anyway. Now you stand before me attempting to criticise the actions of our staff (and no, this wipe was not my idea, so I'll say "our staff") and bleat about how you've lost out.
I can't emphasise it enough. I don't care. I'm pretty sure everyone else doesn't care either, because not only did we warn you, the system was obviously flawed and we have a record for acting in these circumstances.
End of.
I'm going sleepy, good night.

Re: Changelog 14th May 2016
I actually like the change.
Rewarding people only for fighting/killing is way better than rewarding people for locks.
This actually causes them to fight. The effects could be seen immediately after the patch.
You could probably further improve this by making the medaillon-drops scale with AAO, so people even have a reason to fight when they are the underdogs.
If you get crushed mercilessly, but still get a decend amount of medaillons if you kill just one enemy, you still have motivation to fight.

Finding bugs is what players are for. The RoR team itself doesn't have the people nor the time to do that.zumos2 wrote:I would rather seen you wait with releasing tier 4 to give you time to think better about the system and possible fix some bugs ahead of time

That's OK.

Re: Changelog 14th May 2016
Players had 5 and a half years of merry go round capping empty keeps. Just go and watch testpigs videos of wars problems. He recorded empty keep take after empty keep take. Thats how it was. It might take them a bit of time to adapt to having to go to where the enemy is but they will adapt in a month or two.
