I have no problem with people using strafing to kite. I just wish the game echo'd some others I've seen where the following occurs:
Max speed is running straight. If you strafe kite your speed is something less than max speed. Thus, you have a dilemma when stafe kiting. Yes, you don't give a pursuer your back, but at some point you can also be caught if they are running straight for you while you stafe kite... your speed is less than theirs.
Where they gone? And really?!

Re: Where they gone? And really?!
Is strafing even technically in the game? isn't the problem the 180 degree cast arch? How is the game going to differentiate running from strafing?

It's in the game. Check your keymapping for movement. It's default bound to Q and E.Jaycub wrote:Is strafing even technically in the game? isn't the problem the 180 degree cast arch? How is the game going to differentiate running from strafing?
Re: Where they gone? And really?!
I always defined strafing as moving while still facing your target, but in this game with 180 degree casting arch you don't have to face your target to cast on them. The strafing keys don't do anything you cannot achieve with WASD and RMB. they don't seem to strafe you in relation to your target anyways.
I just don't see how the game would be able to differentiate between running in a straight line and strafing and be able to apply a movement speed debuff. I am not calling anyone out or saying they are wrong I am just having a hard time wrapping my head around it. Also wouldn't reducing the casting arch to like 120 degrees solve more problems then a strafe speed nerf?

Re: Where they gone? And really?!
Kiters would still strafe. They would just be forced to bunnyhop-turn-cast like every decent sorc or BW already does. Otherwise they would have to kite in an arc congruent with the 120 degree cast which would eventually allow the pursuer to catch up <----no one will do this.Jaycub wrote: Also wouldn't reducing the casting arch to like 120 degrees solve more problems then a strafe speed nerf?
I still think this is just stealthers wanting a guaranteed kill every time they pop from stealth. On my SH or Engie I have to double pot after the KD just to stay relevant in the fight. Then, success depends on terrain. If you pop on a kiter in an open field, you deserve to die.

Re: Where they gone? And really?!
binding strafe left and strafe right to movement keys like A and D and then using A and your camera to run in a straight line away from a target...allows you to guarantee your back is not given to your target. This was basically kiting 101 for Live WAR. Because strafe has no speed penalty.. you can effectively run in a straight line using the strafe key and camera turn to run same speed as your pursuer in a straight line while guaranteed to have no back access.

I tried soloing but got kinda bored after I realised that premades and warbands will chase a single play till they either catch him or he reaches a warcamp.
